As a Knicks fans it's easy to look at the team and complain about what player's can't do. The simple fact of the matter is that we won 54 games last season and the roster is better than it was last year.

Draft picks be damned. If you're all about draft picks find another team. Our MO has never been about the draft and never will be....get over it.

Shump - Going into a possible beast mode season. He looked like his "old" self against the Pacers. Can't wait to see what the kid does this season.

THJ - He can play now....enough said.

Ron Artest! I know what his name is but he'll always be Ron to me. The man can still play and although he's not the lock down defender of years past he can and will play D. He can steal the rock and he can rebound.

AB - Yeah he doesn't rebound and his D is a bit shaky but he can score the rock. Reality is that he's a 7 foot Gallo. People hating on the move now will be smiling ear to ear shortly.

K-Mart - Toughness and rebounding...welcome back!!!

STAT - The man works hard and is injury prone but he's committed to getting better. STAT down low with dream shakes for even 20 minutes a game brings a grin to my face.

Let's get it done and if not...hey Melo pick your team!

Papabear Says

I voiced my concerns however I love reading some very positive posts and get thier opinion and I hope that they are sooo right on. Only time will tell. I'm very concerned about this coming season and my concerns won't stop me from going to at least 10 games next season yelling and shouting let's go Knicks. That's what most fans do.

I like our team. I think we're very unpredictable. We might have overachieved last year but the nice thing about unpredictability is that anything is possible. The pacers overachieved offensively in the playoffs, The Nets still have to prove themselves as does DRose. There's no reason we can't grab the #2 seed.

FEEL GOOD

Feelin' good, Feelin' good
I got love in my heart and my soul,
And I feel good.
There's joy down in my soul, I can't explain.
Oh, I got to tell everybody, I feel good.

Feelin' good, Feelin' good
I got love in my heart and my soul,
And I feel good.
There's joy down in my soul, I can't explain.
Oh, I got to tell everybody, I feel good.

Why don't you try love just for yourself?
If you do you won't need nothin' else.
Gives you power like He said it would.
Oh, I got to tell everybody, [clap, clap]
I got to tell everybody, [clap, clap]
I got to tell everybody, I feel good, good, good, good.
I feel good. [clap, clap, clap, clap]

Feelin' good.

I think the team has improved. I think Barg's has some good potential to help provide more consistent scoring along with Melo. JR is sooo feast of famine.

I think Artest will help improve the defense or bring an edge in regards to defense that was missing last season.

We will see how things pan out on the court but the off-season has been solid.

they will finish somewhere between 4-6. I'm more concerned with how they do in the playoffs this time. Don't see them getting past the 2nd round possibly ousted in Rd 1 but 2015 will be right around the corner at that point.

I agree about Ron. There was a post in another thread that showed Lance Stephenson going off in the playoffs. I don't know that that happens with Ron on the team. One way or another I think he stops that or gets in Stephenson's head. Watched a tape on youtube of Ron today where he went after Reggie Evans among other people.

Other teams have improved but it's not like any took a major step forward...just with any team there are question marks.

Bulls - are the team to look out for. 5th seed last season without D-Rose. He's back and the Bulls added Dunleavy which will help.
Nets - Adding PP and KG to the mix doesn't equate to instant success. On paper the team looks tough when you add those 2 to Lopez, Johnson and D-Will. It's going to take time for them to mesh if they can.
Heat - Same minus Miller and possibly adding Oden.
Pacers - Added Scola and get Granger back. His is Granger going to fit into the mix, especially since they've been trying to move him.
Hawks - Lose Smith but add Millsap. Don't think they've gotten worse or better.

I believe we've improved just as much as anyone else. I understand that other teams have improved as well but I don't think any of the above teams have taken such a huge step that we won't compete. IMHO the landscape has changed more out West.

All I know it's going to be fun and I can't wait for the season to start. Bottom line is that I KNOW we will make the playoffs and a lot can happen during an 82 game season. Health will always play a huge part. Hopefully we can stay healthy and the others not so much.

I really like this team. I don't think we give this team enough credit for the moves they've made so far. The weaknesses this team had are pretty much resolved with 3 more spots to fill. I'll be happy with 1 more vet and 2 of our SL kids. Tyler and Murry would be great additions IMO. I really don't care about the moves other teams have made. I really don't see those moves pushing the Knicks to the back of the line. We came into the season as the #2 seed last year and I think this team could be a #2 or #3 this year.

The reason I feel this team is a top #2 or #3 seed is that we have the most potent offensive team. We have a more consistently good offensive team all the while being able to defend at a good level. We also have a very mature team but not in a bad way like last year. These guys should still be able to walk at the end of the year. If last years team wasn't quite as old they surely would've beaten the Pacers. I don't see them beating the Knicks like that again. The Bulls are always tough, but we still have to see if D Rose can get thru an entire season and perform at an elite level. Everyone seems so sure of it, as if there should be no question. Also let's remember that even with a healthy Rose they won 50 games as opposed to 45 without him. IMO adding Dunleavy doesn't make that team demonstrably more potent. Still the Bulls are probably the biggest threat next to the Heat. I'm also not that sold on the Nets either. They might be the AARP team of this year as we were last year. In truth I think all the top East teams will be in a tight bunch with a little luck being the big difference between the teams.

The starting lineup will be interesting. I wonder who starts Artest, Bargs, or STAT. If Artest starts then how will 4s defend him?

I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do. Also interested to see if Bargs can redeem himself- I like it when people can really make the most of a second chance, so I hope he can shut up the writers hailing this as the worst trade of the offseason (I wasn't too happy with the trade at the time, but I can't ebelieve anyone thinks it was the worst trade of the offseason!).

And as every I hope Amar'e can stay healthy- it's tough seeing someone with a lot of pride and a great work ethic endure the last two seasons he has.

I liked most of the team last season, so i have no problem rooting for the team!

Can't believe it's still almost 3 months away!

From day 1 Woodson needs to make it clear to Bargnani that he is a key part of the team. Make him Melos sidekick. Start him. He will spread the floor for Melo. Don't bury him on the bench when he blows a defensive rotation. Put him in the best position to prove why he was the #1 pick and can get back to being the lethal weapon he once was. He has potential to be tremendous for new york

I agree with Bargs and i think it goes for the whole team. Everyone needs to have clearly defined roles and the rotation needs to be consistent. I used to hate Woodson starting Camby, White, etc only to play them 5 mins and sit them the following game. Play your starters starters minutes, and get your rotation set. It will go a long way.

From your mouth to gods ears. Nothing drove me off the wall like Woodson starting white for the 1st 2mins until be finally started prigs and gave Copeland mins. The score was 11-0 while everyone stood around watching Melo go 1 on 5 and watching his FG% plummet to 44% I can't even blame Melo. Who is going to score between white Felton Shump and Tyson?

I agree, Woodson constantly starting a "FAKE" starter out there was annoying, often played no role, didn't give any production, and was often a weak link, *EXCEPT for Ronnie Brewer/Kidd when they played well in the start of the season*

Thing is about AB, I feel he should be paired with JR Smith, because they would compliment each other well for spacing/penetration and kick outs for collapse the defense
Melo, JR Smith, and AB are our "BIG 3" and should learn to play as a team together, fit, open spacing, and compliment each other 2 players can play off their abilities on offense
We need them to play TOGETHER, not take turns going ISO, attacking the opponents defense TOGETHER with ball movement/player movement and mismatches, PnR, penetration, post ups, sometimes with screens off the ball

In theory, this would open up the spacing, penetration, and post up opportunities for Melo/Barg's, feeding whoever has the mismatch or advantage

STAT is not part of our main core anymore, not with his injuries and a 20 minute restriction
He is a 8th-10th man player with that restriction and who knows how he will look after "resting" and not working out in addition to his injuries

For out 2nd unit, maybe Murry or Iman (if he is back to his 1st year or better physical abilities) initiating our DEFENSE on the PG with

PG???

Iman
Artest
Martin

Ivan Johnson????

For last player, depending on the matchup, it could be anyone from a Center, PF/C, to a G/F, SF or SF/PF like James Johnson

that could be our 2nd unit and they play a different philosophy, exerting much more energy focused on DEFENSE, hopefully lockdown potential and a grind out style

I honestly think for this team though, constantly changing starting lineups, and rotations depending on the matchups would be to our advantage vs 1 starting lineup and playing 1 way
While understanding and changing philosophies vs different teams to our advantage, problem is Woody just isn't very creative
Like sometimes, using a lineup that puts 5 shooters on the floor, 3 players have the ability to post up, open the lane for penetration, and great spacing to go with ball movement

PG
JR
Melo
Artest
AB

I agree but I think Shumpert will give you more penetration and kick outs and smart passes than JR who will be chucking away on contested turn arounds.
