I was debating this with my friends. they think that since there will be no pressure on him to be the franchise player, hell flourish in NYC. i think hes an injury prone yet gifted shooter who can get hot and carry a team. but hes soft and allergic to the concept of defense. I hope he doesnt play much (especially vs physical teams like indy and chicago) but hes an upgrade over Novak
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I genuinely don't know. There are a tonne of vids of him on youtube- think highlights from every game, but still can't really get a handle on his game. Will he really play harder and rebound better? I hope so.

We've traded for players who were at a low point in their careers before- sometimes it's worked out (Camby, Spree, Keith Van Horn), and sometimes they've just continued their decline and fallen out of the league (T-Mac, Jalen Rose, Steve 'I really don't want to be here' Francis). Obviously I hope the former- he does like NY and has played well here. And as much as people are trying to airbrush it out of history now he's a Knick (remember people, players lose all talent when on the Knicks roster, but are 'underrated' when they leave- see the reviews of the signing of Toney frickin Douglas this offseason as the latest example!) he had a couple of seasons before the injuries where everyone thought he had put it together.

I'm keeping my expectations low- he just needs to be better and more versatile than Novak, really.

16 and 5 with some nights where he dominates and some nights where he seems to disappear.

he'll make a convenient scapegoat for what ails the team.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

18 and 5, number two scorer..........4 open threes a night. Honestly he should probably take about half of his shots from three (6-7).

Anji's 18 and 5 sounds reasonable.

Anyone who thinks one man needs to be labelled a scapegoat for an entire teams failure to meet expectations is simply looking for something to whine and moan about.

The chemistry between Prigioni and Bargnani will be fun to watch.

Carmelo Anthony becomes a decoy.

Barg Sanity

or

Nani Sanity

I can less about STAT's (no pun intended) and I would like to see a philosophy with a TEAM EMPHASIS and actually running plays while utilizing the players/rotations and skills on the floor together, attacking the opponents DEFENSE as 1 unit much more often this year than ISO plays and just a SPREAD OFFENSE that is focused on 1 player (especially when it is vs a lockdown/strong defender)
We need to play system that role players are involved in the OFFENSE and not used just as players to space out the floor for Melo, JR, STAT, or any player so they can constantly go 1v1

We need to add OPTIONS in plays, usually emphasizing #1, #2, and #3 options to initiate our OFFENSE, and DECEPTION so we are not easily predicted
(sometimes the 5th option can score all the points because his man is always cheating, but capable of playing on and off the ball is very important)

Sometimes there will be a mismatch that goes to our favor, sometimes there will be a player that is feeling it and on fire, and running a system with a constant game plan to counter our opponents strengths/weakness's with our own player's strengths/weakness's and philosophy

If Bargnani has a Center defending him, he should always be used as a #1/2 option if the opponents Center is not defending him for a wide open 3pt shot or if he is defended, he likely has the ability to drive pass him straight to the rim or for a pullup, and the other players on the court will have to be able to anticipate what he will try to do with the floor spacing and how the DEFENSE is playing us him
Once Bargnani is established, there will be plenty of room to operate in the paint with the opponents best shot blocker/rebounder out of the paint, for cuts/post up opportunities, and easy basket's for penetration

Running PnR's
Picks off the ball with player movement can achieve this and create mismatches
Ball movement/Good Spacing

Players have to understand this and make personal sacrifice's at times for the better of the TEAM

Some new PnR options include

With Melo at PF/ and Bargnani at C
Running PnR with Melo/Bargnani would be tough to defend, as both have the ability to earn space for one another, either take it in to the basket with the pick, or pulling up for the shot or feeding the cutor

Running the PnR with Bargnani and JR Smith should work nicely with shooters to space the floor as well

As good of a passer as Pablo is, he does not have the ability to penetrate and finish and will always be dared to shoot with the pick, not saying we should not run it because he was very efficient/consistent with Copeland doing it, should be able to do the same with Bargnani

I think that too many Knicks fans underestimate the actual skill level of Bargnani. Sure he's had a couple of shaky, injury hampered seasons, but that shouldn't cloud the issue of what he can do when healthy and motivated. I think AB will be motivated and probably for the 1st time in his career a bit relieved that he's not THE GUY on this team. He can just be a good player and part of the fabric of the team and let Melo be THE GUY. I'm think 17-6 from AB is possible. It's not really just about what his numbers are but how having him on the court effects the overall play of the team. What his impact will be down the rest of the roster.

Another issue is how Woody uses him. AB is a WEAPON. You put him in the paint and the defense has to pay attention to him. That's gonna open up the perimeter. When AB and Melo are on the court together it's gonna help Melo to get less attention and vice versa. This is gonna really test Woody's creativity on offense cuz he's got a lot more to figure out this year. I'm really hoping Woody does some research on offensive concepts that can get the most out of the players we have. This team has a ton of potential.

He blocked 1.4 blocks one year. He also averaged 21 points per game one year.

I think he will give us 12/5 also...he might surprise us though. He's got a lot to prove and his hungry to win.

I'd like to see for myself. Tyson has a big reputation, but I've learned that to be a lie since he's been a knick.

Can't wait till the season starts

He can score. I think he will surprise a lot of people with what he can do. I just want to see if he can play defense. I don't think he will ever rebound.

18 and 6 is not unreasonable. He operates in the high post a lot of the time, so they should be able to work real nice with Melo. He is also our most effective 2 way player, unless Shumpert has greatly improved on his offensive skills. Bargs has a more diverse and polished skillset than Bosh, Bosh being a slightly better rebounder and Bargs being a better shooter/defender. Overall we now likely have THE best frontcourt on the league. Indi picked up Scola, hehe thats not gonna help. Chicago will also have fits defending Bargs. Nets will not be able to defend either one of our 1-2 punch. Looking forward to what Barkley will say , or actually I am not, he'll probably just tell us to wait until the playoffs

I mean, most of the time I've watched this guy it was against the Knicks, and what I see is a guy who can be a really deadly scorer. I think he's got more offensive talent than Gallo. If he stayed healthy and didn't average 15-16 ppg I would be shocked.
