![]() MWP has been a below average NBA player for a few years now. Copeland would have been the better choice.

![]() MWP is a proven performer on championship teams. Tough. Great teammate. A winner. Albeit insane.
Cope is feel-good story, career minor leaguer who had a nice but hardly spectacular run last year. It takes a lot of faith to assume Cope is gonna turn into a consistent rotation player, and even if he does, MWP would have to decline quite a bit to be merely a legit rotation player. This is a weird thread, imo. MWP is somewhere between a good and a great pick-up. This off season, who besides the Nets has gotten a FA so cheap who can change their team? |

He still has a ton of games where he puts up 13+ shots and doesn't even finish with 20pts. If Artesst focuses on doing the little things to win then I can work. Problem I see is Woodson is going to over rely on him like he did with Kidd. Stunting the development of younger players then Artest is gonna go down and these young players will look like deer in the headlights again in the playoffs I guess the reaction from lakers fans must be mixed because I have heard/read from some that they felt amnestying Ron was a bad move. I think nix makes a great point about getting guys the coach is comfortable with and I think Ron fits that. I also disagree about Ron getting young guys minutes and stunting their development. I don't think other than hardaway and possibly murry, any young guy comes close cracking the Knicks rotation. The Knicks didnt have a player under 26 last year other than shump so I am not sure what you are getting at by saying guys will have a deer in the headlights look again. ![]() The Lakers are licking their wounds right now with the loss of Honum/Byward for nothing. This coupled with Kobe's return from achilles surgery leaves them as a hot mess. They're not exactly chock full of depth, so it's not like Artest was holding someone back.
They've decided to go with the talents of Wesley Johnson... and perhaps CDR to replace MWP. “That was two, two from the heart.” - John Starks

![]() I have watched MWP and the Lakers for a couple of years on and off, they are always on as the late games
Many of us, judge by names, past performances, and qualities of the the player Now, years later, he is much slower (affecting both ends of his game but especially DEF), looks lost on the court, and inconsistent with rebounds and 3pters. Iman has a F that he can count on at all times, Murry
but if I had to pick, I would say Copeland but like NIX says, coach just didn't like him.... |
