I wonder what Melo is thinking right now. A team stuck in mud for the next 2 years. Will he lead us through this mess?

Papabear Says

I hate to say it but we are stuck in mud. Part maybe because of the way we got Melo and the Amare injury. I wonder what he thinks about what almost every team is doing in the east getting better and us we let our arch enemy steal Copeland without putting up a fight. If we suck this coming season I can maybe see Melo leaving. I now feel that getting Amear for that amount of money was crazy. He would have signed for 4 years. We always over pay for talent. The next 2 years will tell us what Melo is made of. Does he lead the Knicks to the promised land or will he bounce. only time will tell.

The vibe I get from Melo is that this is HIS city and HIS team. I don't think he's of the same kind of mindset of a D12 who didn't take ownership of the last 2 teams he was on. I feel Melo loves NY and the Northeast areas he's lived in during his early life. I think he has pride in representing this city and team. I think Melo wants to see this team succeed and he gave everything he had last year to try and help his team win. I've bashed Melo when I felt he was doggin it and I praise him when I see he's really trying. In the playoffs this year I saw a player that was giving everything he had to try and win.

As for the franchise, I think this is a very important year. This team will have major continuity for the 1st time and I think that will help this team to succeed. As long as the Knicks brass keep trying to improve the team I don't see why Melo would lose faith in this team and want to leave. Felton, Prigs, Shump, JR and Tyson were key players in the success of the team and they're all back. Now we've added AB, THJ and will likely add others to the mix. I think this team will be stronger than last year. They won't have to overuse Amar'e and I think they learned that it's best to really restrict his minutes. Melo is the face of this franchise, why would he ever want to leave when they just won 54 games, #2 seed and made a 2nd rd appearance. Unless this team fails to make the 2nd rd, I doubt he'll have any incentive to want to leave. This is a really good team and should be in the 2nd rd again this coming season.

He's probably thinking:

"Hey, Dwight signed as a Free Agent and did't rip Houston of assets. Maybe all those fans who said I should have done the same were on to something???"

Melo probably isn't thinking, which is a big part of the problem. Or he's just asking to get better players around him, but not taking into account the mess he helped create.

I don't blame Amare for this at all. He played his heart out for us, he came when no one else came, and he has been trying to improve during the off season. We also signed him outright as a free agent. He did much less harm to the Knicks than Melo has.

Rose is not the answer.

I'm not even worry about the water under the bridge from getting Melo. This team has made so many moves since then and decisions that they have to live with. They didn't have to make the moves they did with amnesty for Billups and signing Tyson. They could've gone in a different and perhaps more patient direction to wait on CP3 but they are always in a rush to try and get a playoff team out there rather than trying to go for a bigger prize. It's only made the job harder tho.

At this point they have to hope for catching lightning in a bottle type situations. We could get lucky with a player we bring in doing better than expected and that leading to more success than predicted. It can happen even if it's a long shot. We'll see how that goes this year. If the Knicks end up doing better than the experts predict which is that the Knicks will be the 5 seed, then that really would be good news. Anything above the 5 seed and this team would be considered overachieving by the experts. That will play a large part in Melo's future decisions. Imagine they get to the ECF's? That would surely make Melo want to stay. It's not likely according to the experts but it could happen.

i doubt melo leaves...money talks the most and we as the home team have the ability to sign him for a larger and longer contract. i expect no less than 25mill for the next 5 years. once that contract is over, hell leave and try to join some team to get his ring
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

The Melo traded included Billups as apart of the deal which turned into Chandler which is why they gave up so much. Billups was viewed as an upgrade over Felton cleaning off the rest of the assets that we would have kept if they just moved for Melo alone.

Nope, that would require retrospection, Melo is thinking about how to make sure he can get 25MM a year for his next 5 year contract.

First of all you need to get that Promise land out of here. Melo will get this team into the playoffs year in and year out. But winning a championship is not going to happen, this is the Knicks and they will never build for the championship. Besides the Knicks can't beat the Heat and the Heat have it locked up. So winning a championship isn't an option here just keeping fan base happy by winning 50 games is what the Knicks have always been about. This was evident in the Ewing years and now the Melo years. Ewing joined the Knicks with dead horse in King and Melo joins with a dead horse in Amare. It's history repeating all over again.

We were forced into taking Billups. The Nuggets cried about having to include him but that deal could of been done without him. It was a way to screw us out of more assets. The Knicks would of loved to do that deal with Curry,Galo,Chandler picks and Kept Felton and Mozgov.

knicks will offer melo the max regardless of anything. they gave amare 100 mil guaranteed and he had 2 bad knees.

it's up to melo if he wants to stay. past behavior and decision indicates that he will stay b/c of money.

right now, knicks are pegged at no higher than the 5th seed. which would mean they will be the road team in round 1 vs. miami, chicago, nets or indy. so a 1st round exit could be in the cards.

i'm just waiting for t.psycho to break melo's nose next year

Melo is thinking, direct quote:

I didn't sign up to be a lone wolf here. Phucking Amare and his brittle knees. Tyson with broken vagine. There's goes my chance at a chip. Man, maybe I should packup LaLa and Kiyan and head out to LA with Kobe. Wait, Kobe's 34 and Gasol is 33. D'Antoni still there...phuck! Shyt, I'm planting my ass here in NY another 2 years, try to recruit Kyrie and K Love!

He could go to Houston and team up with Man child. Wait Lin might be there.

Melo will try to convince Lebron to opt into the final year of his contract then come to NY in 2015. If and when that fails he will change gears and focus on K Love, Rondo, and L Aldridge.

Most ridiculous comment I've read in a while, just completely wrong.

I am more worried about his shoulder. That small tear could become aggravated if he is lifting and getting himself ready to play the four. Also, he played through injuries last year but by the end of the year he was pretty broken down. His health may impact the amount of preperation he can do for the coming season.

I will hate Melo forever if he takes less money to play somewhere else after he gutted this team. He can start making things right by taking a friendly deal here instead of LA.I was hoping Kobe got amnestied I thought it was a real likelihood he would of come here.Kobe is about his legacy and winning. A championship here would be worth more then 1 more in LA.
