It'll be interesting to see terms. You'd think with the Bargs deal they'd want to keep him at 2 yrs.

If you give Smith a multi year deal there is like 99% chance he blow the first year off.

The Knicks better be smart about this deal. You cant rely on this guy. It better be only a 2 year deal and hopefully not more than 5 mil per

Well if true this is a positive development. I think the market started to dry up for JR. I didn't want to see the team take a step back and keeping the key players from last year and adding to the talent base is IMO going to insure a better team.

Well, it can only be about $5.8/year anyway since that's the most we could offer.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

That shows you that many team probably are nervous to offer him a bigtime contract despite winning the 6th man award. i bet JR is kicking himself for elbowing terry and going on a week alcohol binge during the postseason

Resigning JR, itself, will only strengthen the roster. The key is Woody. He has to be willing to pull him when it's not JR's night, which he did not always do last season. Hopefully Hardaway Jr. gives us a little more firepower in the backcourt and Woody a little more confidence in an alternative on those nights.

I said this before the Knicks might be the only team that caters to Smith. Nobody is going to deal with his BS. I would lowball him and offer 1 year and a generous 2 mill.

I'm happy about that, JR was a great player for us last year, we really needed him.
In the situation we're in, we had to get him back not to regress from last year. Any way you look at it, he's an asset on a team that has few opportunities to get better. It's not like the money we'll give him would have gone to an other player anyway !

Besides, the CBA will protect the Knicks against themselves, they can't top 6mil or so for the first year which is great value for a player like JR.

People who say you can find that type of performance in the D League discredit themselves by saying that. Under Woodson, JR is great and I welcome him back.

Im glad we are gonna stick to the plan of 2015 in regards to expiring contracts. However we also have to have a backup plan in case we dont get a guy like kevn Love. remember in 2010 we all expected to get lebron and/or wade and we settled for Amare which was a mistake

Definitely. A couple of days ago he was talking about how he expected to be receive large offers from other teams but there were never any reports about any other offers. Now, I'm expecting he's signing a contract for 2 years a little under $12M total. If he's getting more than 2 years I'd be stunned if they're guaranteed.

Jr had a good regular season and kept himself in check for the most part. However he pissed away all the respect he gained from me because of how he acted in the playoffs.

Well it looks like we are giving JR a 4 year deal which is insane. I thought people who were pro Bargnani trade said that it was done so we woulndt be giving long contracts past 2015 because of the FA class. i guess that is out the window
