JR Smith....he loves LA if you follow him on social media you know that....

Jr is better than Affalo and JJ Reddick, both players are rumored to be traded for Bledsoe....Shump for Bledsoe? Just throwing it out there

Absolutely. Get it done. We need a PG and I'd be willing to take a shot at Bledsoe's big potential...The thing about possibly doing a S&T with the Knicks for Smith -- the most we can sign him for is $5-5.5m, in that range. That's a drastically reduced rate compared to what he would garner on the open market (closer to $7-8m I would think based on this year's regular season success). That gives teams big-time incentive to strike a deal with us for his services. I know I'd rather get this guy for $5.5m over $8m...Also, I could see Smith accepting a trade to go there -- LA's a big, lively city just like NY and that team is stacked and would be a ton of fun to play for.

Question -- whether we keep Smith or deal him in a S&T, do we still have the $3.2m tax payers exception to use in another deal or is that money used up to sign (or S&T) Smith? Just curious.

Clips are getting stronger (more reliable) player offers for Bledsoe -- ex. Mayo, Afflalo & Riddick --- who don't come with JR's baggage.

In a straight up deal I think we would have to swap Shump for Bledsoe.

If we knew we had JR resigned Shump could be available in my opinion because we'd have JR and Tim Jr at SG.

Ideally I'd like to hold on to Shump.

How about Tyson/Felton for Bledsoe/Jordan/Butler --- We get 3 new starters -- then we sign a vet PG and a back-up SF.

Bledsoe
Shump
Butler
Melo
Jordan

Free Agent
Tim Jr
JR / Free Agent
Amare / CJ Leslie

We wouldn't be using the MLE to sign JR, we're using his Early Bird rights.

Yes - I keep hearing that but everybody and their grandma is trying to trade for him.

If he's not a PG why are teams offering Mayo, Afflalo & Riddick for him. Do they want him to replace them as shooting guards?

IMO - Bledsoe is a much a pg as 90% of the pg's in the league. Is he Chris Paul? No. Is he Westbrook? Maybe. Is he better than Felton? Probably.

Ok, that's what I thought. Thanks.

+1. Absolutely, you take a chance on this kid's potential, which looks to be through the roof. One of the best, strongest, most athletic PGs around, even if all this potential isn't fully realized yet...And he really improved his 3-pt shooting (which has always been pretty good going back to college) and FT shooting this year... Not enough of a true PG??? Huh? Come on now. He's enough of a PG for me.

Bledsoe has the potential to lead the league in steals and lead all guards in blocks. His defensive potential is just as big as his offense.

How/why would the Clippers sustain JR Smith on a roster that already has Jamal Crawford?

I dunno -- I think Doc could be convinced if the Clippers' brass was down for such a move but Doc was pissed off at JR for throwing that elbow at Terry, I remember that.

I don't see Smith as the piece getting it done. I'm sure the Clips would take Shumpert for Bledsoe, but if I'm the Knicks I'm not interested in that.

JR Smith in a S&T is my offer. They're not getting Shumpert. The idea would be to get Bledsoe and team him up with Shump, Hardaway, CJ Leslie..

If we get rejected -- I'd quickly switch gears and offer Darren Collison a contract. Have both going at the same time even -- whoever gets back to me first gets to wear the Orange & Blue. Man, I'd love to add either guy -- exactly what we need outta our 2nd PG.

Agreed. Excellent potential on both sides of the ball. We've already seen plenty of flashes to know that potential's real.

Yeah. I'm not thrilled with the idea of having THJ as our opening day starter. But Bledsoe sure would look nice in orange and blue.

How about JR Smith and Hardaway Jr. for Bledsoe and a pick/cash etc.? That might get it done -- is that too much though? I don't wanna give them Shumpert -- defeats the whole purpose of all of a sudden having the opportunity to put together a killer athletic squad filled with youth & potential to go along with our solid core. But dealing Shumpert would be like robbing Peter to pay Paul..I'd want Bledsoe to team up with Shumpert.

I think I do that deal - JR + TH jr.....JR Smith, whatever man -- he's a mess I don't even want back anymore. Hardaway's got some potential but Bledsoe's is greater imo and Bledsoe plays a much more crucial position (you can always find decent complementary 2Gs out there). The Clippers want a SG -- here's 2 of them, one the reigning 6th man of the year...We make this deal, I immediately turn around and sign a couple of good cheap SGs to go along with Shumpert -- Jermaine Taylor, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Gerardo Suero, Jamelle Horne, Tyler Brown, Dwayne Davis, etc.. Endless good possibilities here -- that's why I wouldn't be too upset about losing Hardaway. He's replacable; so is JR Smith. Bledsoe would be a real coup however - the jewel of the deal.

I would do it too, JR's value is the highest it is likely to be. Bledsoe is still unproven - Buy low, sell high - I like it
