Teams weren't beating down our doors with offers for our players?

Now I understand there are a couple that have drawn interest on the open market but this is the case for tons of players when they reach this situation.

How come teams weren't blowing us away with pick(multiple) offers for Shumpert?

How come teams aren't looking to pry Tyson Chandler off our hands with picks and whatnot but old arse Garnett and Pierce are getting teams to give up multiple high 1st rounders and young prospects?

How did Jrue Holiday get traded for essentially 2 lotto picks on a losing team?

How come teams are after LaMarcus Aldridge offering multiple picks while on a losing team?

How come teams are after Kevin Love after breaking his hand twice offering multiple picks?

Why are teams after Eric Bledsoe when he's just a backup point guard?

Where are the offers for Melo just to see his value at this point, gotta be on the rise right we made it to the second round?

Hey we won 54gms and won our Division something that hasn't been accomplished in ages.

We don't know what teams have or haven't offered us and maybe we don't want to trade Shump.

Other than that, our contracts suck. No one is taking Novak unless it's part of a deal involving Tyson or Shump. Same with Amar'e until next year when he's an expiring. Tyson is incredibly overrated and a lot of GM's probably see this.

So in short, we have a good team made up by a lot of bad contracts.

Everyone hates Dolan. No one wants to work with him. It's the biggest non-secret in the league.

The man's a jerk.

This.

It also depends on the team circumstances. Philly is going into tank mode for Wiggins/Parker. Celtics are closing up shop, also going into tank mode. Many think Love wont stick with Minny so they're hoping MIN looks to get something instead of losing him for nothing. Aldridge wants out and supposedly has made it known. Bledsoe still has a huge potential tag on him cause the sampling is still small but he's shown amazing flashes.

A lot of teams don't want to trade some of their assets but there are still legit reports. You honestly think if there's been relatively meaningful discussions about our players it's not going to get reported? Where teams are after our guys? I mean I can understand if we're in discussions and names get thrown in to it by us, then maybe there may be reservation of tight lippedness but gimmie a break...if our phone was blowing up with said off in OP trust we would hear about it already.

I guess, but you don't know for sure. Grunwald was saying he reached out to a ton of teams for a 2nd round pick last night and it didn't get reported. I think Shump would get a ton of interest if they put him on the block.

The team isn't that good and the contracts are worse.

the great Grunwald has handicapped the team by putting all his eggs in the Chandler basket and making ridiculous moves like giving Novak $16 million over 4 years.

it would have been nice to use the amnesty on amare instead of an expiring contract

Yet we keep Hi-Fiving Air to Grunny for all these wonderful finds/gems...really where are they?

I'm just saying losing teams have desired players on them by other teams and they make it known, yet tumbleweeds here. It's really odd. I can understand why playa feels there's a conspiracy amongst the league against us. It's Bizarre or maybe just maybe our assets aren't that good/attractive.

Hindsight is 20/20. Originally I loved the Tyson move and amnestying Billups. Amar'e was coming off of a GREAT season and an injury that wasn't thought to be all that bad (back, not knees). Now of course if we had to do it all over I'm sure Amar'e would've been amnesty'd. And Tyson himself isn't worth the big contract, although at the time I though he would be. I always thought the Novak contract was terrible.

Overall, Grunny hasn't been horrible but hasn't been great. This off season will be very important.

jameskpolk nailed it.... and you make a great point.. why aren't our guys hot commodities? why? I am sure, being that this is NY and all if there was a sniff about any of our players, it would be in the press.. knicks tend to overvalue and overpay guys who have peaked in this league.. guys fans like to think are star players, but GM's know otherwise.... This is why I ask posters when they come up with trade ideas.. How do you feel about the player you are trying to move? if you are tired of him, if you think he is lacking, if you think he is overpaid and sucks.. well chances are, the other team feels the same way..

Why did we pick the option up on Billups just to amnesty him that was stupid. Only 1 franchise I know of would be stupid enough to be free and clear of a player but instead give him 15 million dollars not to play for them. That is the Knicks in a nut shell and why Im sure I will never see a title in my lifetime

Only Donnie Walsh knows the answer to that one, he was the one who did it, it happened a few days after the end of the season.

"Chauncey, Amare [Stoudemire] and Chauncey [Billups] are a great nucleus, as we continue to look to improve our team going into the offseason," Knicks president of basketball operations Donnie Walsh said in a statement. "Chauncey is an extremely talented and experienced point guard -- we are very happy to have him back."

Speak for yourself. I was saying even back then we should immediately amnesty Amare. Billups was an expiring contract and still a player who is valued by many teams. I think MElo is far more badly overpaid than Tyson is - Tyson definitely played badly towards the end this seasson. But between the three of them they leave us with nothing to work with. All 3 need to go. We are not going to wing with MElo and Amare is pretty much useless.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Walsh knew what he was doing. He would try his hand with Billups at point, have him expire, and then go after Chris Paul. Or use Billups with Shump in a trade for Paul. But Grunwald came in and thought it would be genius if he used his amnesty on an expiring contract rather than a monster, uninsured contract of an injury prone player on his roster.
