I saw on ESPN ticker that Doc Rivers may have interest in moving. He has 3 years 21M left on his contract. Celts have turned down offers from the Nets and Clippers to talk to him. Can we go full speed after this guy? Whatever it takes to bait the celts? Melo for Pierce?

The Clips and Nets jobs are open. Woodson has won at a 70% clip since taking over for Mike D'Antoni. I don't think you replace him because Doc is restless. The Knicks roster really isn't that good. They overachieved for Woodson. I don't think Doc gets much more if anymore out of the current team and I don't think you fire a guy that has your team winning more games then they have in over a decade.

Why don't we just finish this and go after MDA again?

Because MDA like Woodson was stubborn coach who coahed only one side of the ball.

I agree - till we find one that can coach and MElo will not try to sabotage. Or we can trade MElo - whichever comes first I guess. The entire ritualistic coach firing thing is quite fun.

really, I hope MSG isn't listening to you. You don't just LET GO a guy that took you from mediocrity to the lead in your division. You tweek things, maybe add and offensive coordinator but YOU DON'T just throw this guy to the curb. WTF kind of message would that send to prospective coaches.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I'll respect Doc when he is successful with a team that isn't loaded with talent. Celts sucked ass for years under Doc until Ray and Kevin joined the club. During some of those years, they arguable had more talent to work with than Woodson but, never had any real success. Did Doc ever get them past the 1st round before the big 3?

I pretty much agree, but the way the post season ended against the pacers with endless iso ball and walk it up play - some of that has to be on the coach.

I'm not sure I would take Doc over Woodson, but I don't know you can just give Woodson a free pass.

guy shouldn't need a pass when he gets his team to the top of his division only to lose to a better team. This tends to happen in sports

We don't need a new coach, we just need a starphuch infusion of hope in the off season to get us excited.

Fans want a new buzz. How many times we make changes and they not always for the better?

Woodson is not failing. He did real good with what he had. Maybe even got the most out of them. Just because we beat Miami a few times does not make us a failure in the playoffs.

George Karl, Hollins, Delnegro, they had better records and got let go why? Probably because the team didn't want to pay for them. Woody once again proves to be a great regular season coach but then Karl was a good regular season coach for 20+ years. I'm not a big fan of Doc he is mediocre coach at best who really sucked before the big three came along to save him.

I wouldn't drop Woodson for him. A few coaches I would drop Woodson for Shaw is one and Phil Jackson is the other. Make no mistake Woodson is not a great playoff coach and probably will never get the Knicks over the top. He reverts to a stagnant offense and if be doesn't add more to his approach for the playoffs Knicks will have peaked under Woodson.

Blow it up now, before we lose in the ECF!

Doc for Woodson! Yes! Let's take coaches from among the current losers who are worse than we are!

Finish the whole conversation and just hire Avery Johnson! I heard he made Joe Johnson make those around him better.

These things always come full circle dont they. MDA sucks. Get a new coach. Same results. Lets look at new coaches. But lets pick one this time with a track record for winning with mediocre talent because thats what we have. Oh wait... there arent any.

Doc had a great year coaching a nobody team to the playoffs after they cleared all their space for TMac and GHill:

Coaching is silly. End of the day we are built around a couple of 40% volume shooter. CAnt be suprised when the playoffs start and the shots stop falling. Rotate the coach every year. Folks need to realize its not the coach.

Don't blame the 40% shooters for lack of offensive creativity. It was Woody calling for iso Melo. It was Woody who thought he could rehab Smith to be a second option. It was Woody who put the game plan together it was pretty obvious the players were executing his plan and it sucks in the playoffs. I like his defense first approach but Woody has to increase the level of team oriented offensive execution, Woody failed miserably at that.

my take as well. The coach is responsible for offensive schemes. I don't Blame Melo for the Iso Melo game plan because the coach obviously called for it.

also it wasn't a case of the playoffs start and the shots stop falling as you mentioned above but, more of a case of us going up against a better team. Melo being injured just made it an uglier exit than it should have been.

coaches responsibility. OK. Didnt the last coach draw up pretty good offensive schemes? Wasnt he regarded as one of the best offensive coaches in the NBA? Soo..... first MElo fails to excell at point forward. Then he refuses to "sit in the corner and wait for the ball to come to him."

Want to know what I blame the 40% shooters for? Shooting 40%.

Ten years now guys... we still going to pretend the problem is the coach?

Man... I would just love to underperform at work every year, then blame my manager for not putting me in the right position to succeed. That would be a good gig.

in ten years in the league when has Melo been in an offense that wasnt build around Isos for him? Do you realize its the only way he plays? When coaches try other options Melo stops trying. He's admitted it. Stop blaming Woody for a guy's style of play that hasnt changed in 10 years. Its silly
