http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/9358941/jason-kidd-pursuing-brooklyn-nets-head-coaching-job-sources-say

Jason Kidd is meeting early this week with Brooklyn Nets general manager Billy King to pitch himself as the team's next head coach, according to sources close to the process.

Kidd's meeting with King was originally scheduled as an open-ended discussion about potential employment with the Nets. But sources told ESPN.com on Sunday night that Kidd is determined to convince King that he is ready to make an immediate jump into coaching after retiring this past week.

"Jason feels he's really ready to do this," one of his associates told ESPN.com.

Sources confirmed to ESPN.com that the Nets have indeed added Kidd to the list of candidates they're considering to replace P.J. Carlesimo, who was ousted the day after Brooklyn's first-round playoff elimination by Chicago.

Kidd's interest in the Nets' position was first reported Sunday by Yahoo! Sports.

"There are some hurdles to overcome," one source said of Kidd emerging as a serious contender for the post.

But Kidd's history with the team -- he led the Nets to two NBA Finals appearances when the franchise was based in New Jersey -- and his close relationship with star guard Deron Williams could bridge those gaps, another source said. Kidd -- with no coaching experience at age 40 -- would only be considered if he could assemble "an All-Star cast" of veteran assistants to support him, the source said.

Indiana Pacers associate head coach Brian Shaw has been widely considered Brooklyn's leading candidate and, according to NBA coaching sources, also will interview with the Nets this week.

The Nets dont seem like a good team for him to coach. Kidd should go to a team with a young roster.

Yet most here would love the buzz of having him over woodson?

Nets have a bit intrigue going with a "mystery man" who some thought was Messina. Its pretty much reported Billy King wants the Triangle offense with Blatch and BroPez so Brian Shaw could bring that.

Kidd deserves an interview regardless of experience just out of respect. If he blows King away, who knows?

"out of Respect" I don't why..If he was that great of a coach, I'm sure he would be on the knicks bench and our offense wouldn't have been so damn predictable..

I went to UC Berkeley with him, and he's a really calm cool guy, nothing over his head, except, he can be incoherent sometime over the phone. I hope him as a coach won't be like that. I'm sure it won't... it's been 20 years, so he must have learned a lot how to talk like a coach by now.

Most knick fans who think the grass is always greener!

Knick fans love the buzz of potential and we need it to deal with the bitter aftertaste.

Being a knick fan is like being sold diet soda: they say it tastes great but its never as good as the real thing!

Im lumping of course.

Seems like everything was super fantastic till we fall one round short in the playoffs and a vocal group wants the Tyson traded, go youthier and get a better coach.

Like its that easy!

Apparently Kidd would hire Frank to be on his staff if he gets the position.

Element of Jason Kidd's pitch to Nets, I'm told, is Lawrence Frank joining him on bench, giving Nets assistant w/HC experience they demand

It's a very long-shot for Kidd to get the head coach job for the Nets. Kidd might be promoting himself as the next Mark Jackson.
Interviewing him is good PR for the Nets.

Question to all: Would you want Kidd to be an assistant coach with the Knicks if the opportunity arose. No arguments that he would replace Woodson, as I think that is very improbable.

Hell no, especially when there is so many qualified coaches that are unemployed or doing TV..
