the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Good News?

JR been very quiet of late.

Im sure his agent is just thrilled he parlayed his SMOTY award into Party rumors, misguided suspension and playoff performance failure!

I suppose we need him as much as he needs us.

He was a big part of our 54 win season so Im glad if he returns. Always room for his upside maturity.

As much as I, like most, are still steaming about JR's MIA performance in the playoffs he is, as many other posters have stated, probably one of the best out there for what he is expected to be paid. If/when he does resign I hope it's a short contract for two reasons:

1. More motivation for his next payday
2. He would be great to package in a trade when Shump is ready to be the 2nd option.

Voted Most Likely FA to Sign With the Knicks! BleacherReport brings it!
Born and bred in Jersey, he want's to retire a Knick!
Brother's part of the package deal! "Grunny, I can give you two Smiths for one" says agent. It's all in the family!

Too many good moments from this past season to write him off so soon after a playoff swoon.

I'm kinda over him at this point. The playoffs left a real sour taste in my mouth regarding JR Smith.

I think Shumpert can grow into Smith's role easily and then some.

I have seen about three other city newspapers calling their teams to make a run at JR...Might not be so easy to resign him...

Losing J.R. Smith in Woods Of Free Agency would be the start of the best thing to happen for us this summer...

Here's hoping some GM out there has the mind of BRIGGS and feels he's worth $50mil

It would be really neat if JR didn't wind up back with the Knicks next year. But he most almost certainly will unless someone is stupid enough to give him more than 7M/year. We can offer just over 5M/yr, but someone would have to offer him significantly more to leave. Unfortunately, he's the kind of guy that will leave money on the table to stay here, but he's also an unreliable headcase.

I disagree with the writer of the Bulls article that JR was a liability on defense, but he is right that Rose and Smith would make a hell of a one two punch if JR plays under control. He's shown he can and I'm sure Thibs would demand it and so would players like Noah.

Yeah great idea lets lose another piece that would could get an asset back for. Thats the way to build a strong team. Sign him to a friendly deal then ship him out

I didn't believe that JR could have such an amazing turnaround this season but the way he went out left a real bad taste in my mouth and I hate to think what will happen after he gets his deal. We're probably going to find out, unfortunately.

If the Knicks are signing him it wont be to a cap crippling amount so a see it as a non issue.

I'm more concerned with his playoff performances than his contract. If he's here Woodson is going to play him.
