The Knicks should really go after Greg Smith---we need size upfront that makes sense--this guy is the next Antonio Davis.

i agree...but the question is how much would you spend? mini vet level or some of the MLE?
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Would you also push to acquire Thomas Robinson? I liked him before he was drafted.

Hes 6-9 260 C with a strong body and long arms who has many great NBA days in front of him. Hes worth spending 3mm on if need be. I dont think we will get Blatche kaman or anyone of that ilk anyway. The only problem with the Knicks--if a player does not have a 6 year resume--they seem not to be interested.

I think the best way to improve this team is to bring in some young legs ---Smith Muscala and either Green/Wolters is something we can realistically achieve.

I like the idea of Dwight and Lin teaming up, plus Harden, that's a contender immediately,

All the rockets want is cap space or a low (or future) draft pick. We have the non guaranteed deals of Q-Brick, Baron and White. Wouldn't give them anymore picks though. However, I think he's likely a bust and besides I doubt we ever trade with the rockets over the next decade- they're definitely on Dolan's list of enemies.

They dont need to pull the trigger until free agency. Plenty of teams to dump a lottery pick.

Love the chess game that is the off season.

Its a lot of chedder to leave on the table on a guaranteed deal but thats what 3 yr opt outs are for and if you want to win and not deplete the team your walking into, then Dwight has to take that risk.

Dwight
Parsons
Lin
Harden

Nice core to build on. They can trade Asik who could have a lot of value either in players or draft pick(s).
Maybe he ends up on lakers in sign and trade. Rockets can take on the salary while the lakers take on much less!

see what happens when you are patient, make smart moves and preserve your assets at the right time?

Thomas Robinson is the largest contract, at $3.5M, on their books that is easiest to move. Greg Smith is set to make $884,293 next year and was contributor off the bench. Don't think you can get Smith as easy as Robinson with limited assets.

Imagine if Morey turns Asik and TRob into LaMarcus Aldridge or Love? Then they get Dwight?

C-Dwight
PF-Aldrige or Love
SF-Parsons
SG-Harden
PG-Lin

Holy Crap!

Yup. Lin is the type of PG that Dwight needs.

Except Dwight apparently hates PnR. He would rather have it in the post and kick out to 3 pt shooters. That would not be Lin.

Lin Penetrates and draws help defenders well. Beverly is a very solid PG too and Harden is a good play-maker. I think this would be a great situation for Howard.

Only problem is we never had any real great assets. No young studs on rookie contracts, high draft picks, or cash and exception of any sort. Our assets were good role players and late round picks. Need to compare apples to apples when trying to make these points.

No way. They were good enough assets to get Carmelo + Chauncey, right? You're looking at this in hindsight, which is irrelevant to the decision-making at the time. Gallo was a mid lottery and a strong scorer with unknown potential. Landry Fields had just won rookie of the month and was a tall, long rebounding machine for an SG. Mozgov and Chandler were looking pretty good. Randolph had lots of talent, and we also offered many 1st and 2nd round picks. Felton was putting up 17 and 9 and considered a borderline all-star. Regarding cash, we were able to offer up to $3 mil in trades.
