Amar'e Stoudemire will resume working out with Hall of Fame center Hakeem Olajuwon for the second summer in a row, according to his training adviser Travis King.

King said the workouts will take place sometime in August at Olajuwon's ranch outside Houston. It's not clear if Tyson Chandler will join him, which was on the table in 2012.

Sucks that the guy can't stay on the court, but you have to admire how he's handled his demoted role and dedicated himself to improving his game.

Yeah, I saw that. I give him credit for effort but it's probably just a waste of time.

Amare should get back to his jump shooting ways. It is obvious his knees can't handle the dream shake or spin.

I was hoping he would stick to pool work. I think his work with Hakeem helped him a lot but I worry about how much time he spends on the court. Amare is a workout warrior and may overdue it,

Bingo. Dudes needs to relax this summer. All those new moves dont mean a dam thing sitting on the bench in a suit.

IDK about this, in one way it's good knowing he's trying to get better both defensively and in the post, bad becuase the last time you did it, you couldn't survive more then a few weeks on the court.

I'm no doctor so idk how much of an impact that had on him, maybe it was inevitable despite the off season work out, who knows with the knicks med staff in charge..

I wish he would just do pool work, stretching and yoga. Maybe look into whether the treatment Kobe had to avoid micro fracture surgery could still help him after micro fracture surgery. If Amare's knee issues could be overcome by hard work and character he would be fine. I just don't think his issues can be fixed.

I see Hakeem going for off-season #2 of ripoffs... wonder if he's gonna get McGee to squander some of his financial inheritance.

Someone should teach Amar'e how to rebound/box out/position D/block shots.

We've already seen this story through film footage and the results were not good. Why do we always have to hear what these guys are doing...

I never heard how LaMarcus Aldridge developed his post game

I never heard how Zach Randolph developed his touch around the rim

I never heard how David West developed his post play besides spending the off-season boxing

I never heard how Marc Gasol developed his all around big man play

I never heard how Dirk developed his game besides working with his long tim shooting coach from Germany

I never heard how Roy Hibbert worked on his interior game but I did hear his wrist injury played an impact on him adjusting his game on a personal level

I kind of understand if a player is young is entering the league and they're working with some of these past greats but greatness often times comes from WITHIN as Phil Jackson said. I'm not saying Amar'e shouldn't be working with Hakeem but he's 30yrs old he is what he is..

Have to agree with this.
Hopefully Amare can stay on the court long enough to actually use these moves too.

Amar'e was fairly efficient when playing but I saw nothing Hakeemesque from him. He basically used his power and strength to be effective. Now was this because he wasn't 100% who knows but you have to wonder in order to do what Hakeem did it's going to take a lot of work from the lower extremity primarily footwork(spins pivots jab steps leaping) which IMO is a recipe for him to increase risk of injury to himself again.

I'd rather Amar'e pattern his game at this point after David West or Luis Scola...either use his upper body or become crafty....

Amar'e going Dream Shake=Amar'e GO BOOM...again.

Yeah the most improvement I saw was the little hook he used a lot more often this year. He also didnt try to keep blowing past defenders and getting stuck and turning it over like before. That could just be him accepting his limitations now though. I'd actually love if he played like David West. I just hope he still has his jump shot. He had looked like he lost it for a bit when he put on that muscle last year.

I think he personally needs to work on conditioning/speed/quickness/explosiveness but more about his mobility/speed because it affects him on OFFENSE AND DEFENSE
His hand eye coordination and speed is on par with a slow Center that is quite clumsy too

I honestly did not expect him to do as well on the post moves as he did once he got healthy, ironically right before he got injured again

However, I think he seriously needs to work on his fundamental's including BB IQ, DEF, fighting for position for rebounds and in general
Physically he has to work on drills/exercises to make up for his knee/health issues
He has slown down dramitically with speed/quickness affecting BOTH ENDS OF PLAY
I hope he would work on these stuff instead of learning more advanced post moves

These are things that a trainer/nutrionist should work on together, in these next couple months
IF he can achieve these, it would surely help in his ability to play minutes down the stretch when needed to finish
He must make a position to defend, either PF or C and train/build his body to do so
With his lack of speed/quickness and poor coordination/clumsy feet it would probably be easier to defend a C than a PF for majority of the players in the league
