I think Iman can step up and become a Paul George-esque player for the knicks. We need a better coach though!

once he learns how to finish, shoot mid range js and do some other things. I think he is a better on ball defender but George is better fighting through traffic and running through screens.

If anyone feel like doing the math: what would Shump FG% be if he shot .609 at the rim this year like he did his rookie year?

He has the potential to be that good. The physical tools are there and the skill too. If we trade him for an aging vet I will stop following this team.

What makes george special is his length. For someone who is 6'10 he can do things you expect from a shooting guard.

Shumpert is only 6'5 he is not going to be Paul George.

Paul George is 6'8", not 6'10".

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Shumpert has yet to really work on his game with NBA level training the past 2 off seasons. Carmelo needs to call Jordan(Since he is under his shoe brand) and get them to work together.

This past season Shumpert took 80 shots in the restricted area and hit 35 of them for a shooting percentage of 43.75% and 39.6% overall. If he shot 60.9% at the rim he goes 49/80 at the rim and raises his overall shooting percentage to 44.72%.

The #s here look a little different. It has him at 48% at the rim.
http://www.hoopdata.com/player.aspx?name=Iman%20Shumpert

Regardless, his #s were pretty bad everywhere except 3 point range. 48% at the rim is about 10 to 15 below the league average. Then he shot in the mid 20s from 3 to 9 and 10 to 15 feet and 38% from 16 to 23 feet.

But Woody thinks JR is better than Paul George.

Hmm, I took all my number from http://NBA.com/stats and his shot chart there looks like this:

I think the biggest difference is the areas don't exactly match up from both sites. There's also a difference in total shot attempts with NBA saying 275 and Hoopsdata saying 268.

The license to Jack shots without repercussion. The ability to act stupid and not be reprimanded for actions detrimental to team. The way Woody rolls out the red carpet for JR no matter how bad he is doing or how selfish his actions are, allows me to think that Woody thinks he has the second coming of Micheal Jordan. So yeah I think Woody think JR is better than George.

No dissrespect to MJ but he can't even elevate the players on his own team, guy is a awful teacher, he's one of those lead by example type players.

Melo needS to go workout with JOHN STOCKTON the all time leader in assist..smh

But honestly..Melo needs improve mentally, he needs to read books like the "art of war", he needs to change his approach to the game..10 years dude and his still playing the exact same way he played in college.

We should be saying things like Melo needs to workout with shump over the summer so he can improve his offensive game..But can melo teach??

Why have you left off Mardy 'Walt Frazier' Collins?

I think that one should remember that Iman came off ACL surgery and was absolutely miserable for a long while when he came back. Those numbers are skewed a bit for that reason.
