This is mho-- players out

Tyson Chandler out--He hasnt worked here in the playoffs we need something different and we can get fair and reasonable compensation for him--one of our only assets to change the team. Hes also be 32 and has 13 NBA years on him.

Steve Novak--I think we should keep Copeland and trade Novak

Jason Kidd--I cant say more--hes done

Marcus Camby--done

One the fence JR Smith--at this point Im inclined to keep him for 3 years 15mm in the same role and hopefully put other scorers out there so he doesnt feel compelled to take 20 game--Id rather him avg 12 points and get the FG% up.

Kenyon Martin--I like him but I will only pay him what I can and not a dollar more because I need that mini MLE

Pablo Prigioni--Ill keep him but he has to take the 1mm or so as a back up.

Keep

Iman Shumpert--dont play him in game 5 if his knee isnt well. 6 months off he should be a rejuvinated guy.

Carmelo

Amare---My goal with Amare is to get him in the same shape he came into this year and use him as the 24 minute back up 4-5. He CANNOT play more than 24 minutes and we need to rest him like they do Duncan--as in 65-68 games played 24 minutes oer. That 14-5 in 24 minutes is big.

Felton--He played a very decent PG this year

Chris Copeland--I dont want him to exclusively play a 3 pt shooter. He can replace Novak

What we need

a post player on the starting unit who can score to give Melo more room at 4.

A young athletic transition player in the backcourt

A scoring 3 who can help Melo and take pressure of him.

Assets Pick 24 3mm in cash Mini MLE Tyson Chandler Steve Novak

I would throw in Camby, the non guarantees, and the 3 mil as assets too.

Knicks need to make EVERYONE available. Dolan isnt trading Melo.

We are likely stuck with Amare.

Try get back a young big and guard.

I agree with all that. I don't know what we could get for Tyson, but he's so one dimension (and sucks at it at the moment) it's killing the team

Move Tyson. Not sure if his comments after he was destroyed and embarrassed were met to deflect criticism or were his attempt at leadership but the fact that they made it to the media makes me think they were the former. Tyson is paid a lot to rebound, play d and set picks. Seems like that money could be moved around a bit and the Knicks might become a more complete team.
Personally I had no issues with Tyson until his comments. I think he is hurt and isn't able to play up to his normal standard. But in that state when he was under performing at an incredible rate, I think he was out of line to speak out to the media. Nothing wrong with those words in the locker room but you can't be the reason your team loses and then call other guys out in the press.

good post BRIGGS...as always i agree with your logic and most of your moves. here are my thoughts:

-Ray - solid year and cheap...yes he stays
-shump - good to see his ability back...hes a keeper
-Melo - franchise player - he stays
-Kmart - sure he can stay at the right price. nothing more than 2mil
-Tyson - im down on him - he stays (but lets just say id listen to trade offers)

-Prigoni - surprising yr - yes he stays for cheap
-JR - sadly we NEED him...as bad as he has played, the only good thing abuot his playoff woes is that he wont get paid 10mil by other teams. i think we can keep him for a backloaded type of deal
-Novak - get rid of him in a trade and replace him with cope
-Cope - keep him off the bench as the 3pt threat/at least he can play better d than cope
-Amare - i agree. at 15-20mins off the bench he can still be effective
-QRich - dont laugh but at age 33 and summer training camp id keep him

GET RID OF:
-kidd - MUST retire
-camby - MUST retire
-white - lol GONE!

Needs:
stretch 4 = dante cunningham
big man depth - (Dalembert)
PG/SG combo - almost like that kidd role (D. west)

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I agree Melo, Shumpert, Chandler are the core players moving forward but Chandler would be our most tradable player if the right deal came along. But only if it was a no-brainer.

Our 1st round pick, Felton, and Copeland can all be useful supporting players moving forward. Must add another PG, a shooter, and a reliable scoring 3/4.

This could be the one trade that makes sense involving Chandler. It would be rolling the dice on Bledsoe being a future star but it could work out. Seems like the type of deal CP3 would push for as well if he stays. They wanted 37 year old KG, so why not Chandler in this case? Then trade Camby and cash and/or another small piece to PHX for Jared Dudley, a perfect shooter/defender/high efficiency role player.

I'd do this in half a heartbeat. But I don't think CP3 would be able to dictate those terms. It would be great to do a STAT, Tyson, Felton trade for CP3 and Jordan. Wouldn't happen though unless LAC saw it as an opportunity for 2 expiring deals in 2014. Also, I'd feel bad trading Felton again. He's really proven that he is an above average PG in the league.

CP3 is a free agent and has full support from the FO. If he wants Chandler for Jordan and Bledsoe, LA will do it.
