Will the diversity issue by David Stern be just words or will an owner in the league make sure he's on a roster in the 2013-14 season

Waste of a roster spot. Dont think he will get a job and the media will assume he didnt because of his sexuality. A lot of the media and fans dont even know who he is from the reactions ive seen. They think he is a 24yr old active player.

With that said I dont think a 3rd thread on this is necessary on the Knicks section

I disagree , I think this is a great closure poll on this issue.

It's too hard to pick which team but I do think he'll get signed. He'll draw a lot of fans in to watch the games. Maybe it will be a rebuilding team with low attendance issues. They'll say he's a mentor for the young players.

I think had he NOT made the announcement he WOULD NOT have an NBA roster spot. Now that he HAS made the announcement, some team will pay him to sit on the bench. Bet on it.

I can see a place like Minnesota or even Memphis. Small markets that won't over expose him and as a bonus they might sell a few extra tickets.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Good morning lol

I'd love to be more positive on the subject but I dont trust the motives of anyone in the spotlight anymore. Im happy for Jason because im sure for him the positives of finally coming out outweigh all the negatives. I just dont think its a story until someone relevent comes out. Maybe Jason makes it easier for them now and we can all move on and eventually get to the point where this isnt even an issue and the media can just stop reaping the benefits and it becomes a nonstory

I was saying to a co-worker yesterday that it would be more relevant if it was a premier player or, if not a premier player, not someone in the twilight of their career who may never wear another team jersey again.

What if this was Jason's plan. He could actually be straight and not gay. I bet there will be others that follow, but what if they are just making this up just to get a few extra years / NBA money. There's really no way to prove it. It would be along the lines of Manti Teo. I just don't believe his twin brother or close relatives never knew. You can't keep that in for 12 yrs without people around you knowing! It took me 1 day in my gym for my team to know my sexuality. Based on where I'm looking, how I'm looking and my responses to different people.

Anyway, he will definitely get picked up now. Whether it's real or fake, he will have the spot light on him all year. And the media will be doing more locker room interviews with his next team. It will be a low attendance team that will pick him up. And maybe this would incourage gays that can really ball to go to that team, and use Jason as a mentor. More power to him and the gay movement. Hopefully this will get old soon, and we can all move on.

david stern will make it his mission to make sure he's on a team. it would look awful for the league if he isn't signed by anyone now.

my things is that, being an older player, in the twilight of his career who may never be signed by another team, not because of his sexual orientation but, because he isn't very good.....how is he any different or given more respect than Jon Amechi, the first NBA player I'm aware of "coming out."

He's being given accolades and props but, he hasn't done anything new!!! Had he been an ACTIVE player it would be different than what John Amechi did

I guess technically, he's not officially retired so then he's considered an active NBA player, without a team to play for.

But I agree with you. John Amechi must feel cheated. lol. So now the next person to come out will have to be on a team playing or most likely riding the bench.

This is a slow process, but you can see where it's heading....Eventually, there will be a starting caliber NBA player to come out. I'm not sure how that will change anything. You are either for it or against it....Regardless if you are the worst or the best player on the team.
