Does this guy get the flu multiple times a year?

Weighty issue: Chandler drops 10 pounds

Tyson Chandler told The Post he lost 10 pounds because of flu-like symptoms he sustained late in the regular season while he was rehabbing his neck injury.

Chandler played below par in the first two games of the Knicks’ first-round series against the Celtics, and coach Mike Woodson blamed that on Chandler’s weight loss. Last night, Chandler had six points and eight rebounds in the Knicks’ 90-76 victory, which gave them a 3-0 series lesd.

“The fact he was off — he’s a lost a little weight — and we’re trying to get his strength back up,’’ Woodson said.

Asked last night why Chandler lost so much weight, Woodson said, “He got sick. He wasn’t really eating so he lost a few pounds. We got to bring him back up. I thought the last game he was moving better. That was a good sign.’’

Chandler missed the final six games of the regular season, ostensibly because of reinjuring the bulging disk in his neck that occurred after the big Oklahoma City upset. But apparently the flu was a factor as well. Chandler said he wasn’t sure what kind of illness he had, and might have caught something from his daughter.

After Games 1 and 2, he talked of regaining his stamina.

Was just gonna post this. The return of Flu Tyson. What is it with this guy and not just getting sick but morbiddly ill once the playoffs roll around and seasons change. To the point where he is rendered completely useless. Can you imagine if we didnt pick up Kmart. We would prib lose the the celtics. Might be better trading this guy before the playoffs next yr and get back all we can

I think this is at least the third time in his 2 years as a Knick. I don't get it either.

What do you mean 4th time in 2 playoffs? He didn't get the flu twice in each playoffs.

Ha, truly earning his alias.

Weird- plus it was almost a year to the day- he got it just before the playoffs started last season. Thank goodness the Knicks media people kept the news from us, we had to be protected from finding out that Tyson had the flu a couple of weeks ago.

I remember a writer asked him about why he always has the flu earlier in the season, and he replied "I have kids, man".

At this point I think the "flu" is just more Jimmy Dolan PR bull ****. The same way every time a player hurts his knee the Knicks come out and say they're not concerned and won't be performing an MRI and then a week later they report the results of the MRI performed. Just more of Dolan's petty bull**** that we can't admit to an MRI now every time a player get sick they're going to have the "flu".

I'm not doubting that he's sick I'm questioning that he's contracting the flu three times a year/

I was wondering about that too. Maybe it's just a severe virus, not the flu.

For such a "strong" man, Tyson has one of the weakest immune systems I've ever heard of. He's a non-factor this playoffs, same as last year. I see Kmart bodying up people, getting in KG's ugly mug, and stuffing fools like its thanksgiving, while Tyson tries to make people miss by gazing at them as they swoop by him for an uncontested lay-up. Too often this guy just decides not to close out, or that contesting a shot just isn't worth the trouble. As for his label as a leader, there are two leaders on this team- the verbal/ intellectual leader A.K.A. J-kidd and the leader by example A.K.A. Melo.

Tyson is a waste of 14 million, he can take his 3 20-rebound games and shove them, it doesn't mean anything unless you perform when it counts. Just look at Felton, pudgy boy is embarrassing all his haters with the hustle and focus it takes to win in the playoffs, that is the fire we need to succeed. Yeah, yeah, I know, "Tyson's won a championship, he knows what it takes to win"! Well excuse me for not bowing down, but when I watch Tyson Chandler I do not see a DPOY or a champion, I see an inconsistent defender living off his rep. Tyson is capable of playing great defense, but in the 2102-13 season his "interior presence" has been more of a myth than reality.

I wouldnt say hes a waste (lol) but it is kinda weird
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I don't know how anyone could have lived through the last decade as a Knicks fan and then declare Tyson a waste! I remember how awful it was having no center- it led to desperations moves like the Eddy Curry signing and the Jerome James signing. At times we made do with Nazr Mohammed and Mosgov. Tyson has been huge for this club- he goes through spells as flu Tyson, but come on, have you forgotten about the games where he was tearing down 20 rebounds?!

Why judge a player when they're clearly weakened and ou of shape? If you think we're beating the Pacers in a seven game series with K-Mart at C then you're high!
