Would love that deal, especially if it included 2nd round picks
Martin's mobility on DEF and OFF brings so much more to the table

Martin
Camby
Cope

Amare

and a good vet min signing at C, it would be good enough

That's not enough. If you trade Chandler you need to get a starting quality center back. Martin can't play starter minutes for a long stretch.

If there were sign and trades I would go for Leonard and Hickson. Since they want to move to a more defensive Center. Since the Knicks can not do any sign and trades there really is not a Market with valuable assets that would make since for NY to trade with.

There was a recent article by Grantland about the Raptors and how the analytic guys made up a program to track where there players should be on defense. So, since Ny has the same technology maybe they have made up their own kind of program that tracks the same things and if so they can actually maybe track players of other teams and see how they react on D and see if they resemble the player they are trading or is better. They could also do they same thing on Offense. They can track what kind of sceener a player is, how fast he rolls, and so on. Given all that maybe they have someone who can replace what Tyson gives you defensively and slightly more offensively.

Is Jason Thompson that player? Maybe Thompson, Patterson, and Fredette for Tyson.

I think Tyson will get better and still be that game changing player. With the garbage contracts and Novak the Knicks will be able to get a player or two that will help.

Would trade Chandler for DeAndre Jordan and Jamal Crawford.

Jordan/Martin
Melo/Cope
Shumps/
JR/JC
Felton/Kidd

No way, if we're trading Chandler we need more back then just a practically washed up 3. Any trade would have to include a starting quality center and at least another piece. I've thought that OKC, GS, and LAC would make the most sense in terms of need and assets. OKC could trade Perkins and someone they got in the Harden trade, LAC has DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe, and GS has Bogut and some other nice players they'd probably be willing to give up. As much as I like Martin and appreciate what he's done for us I'd prefer not to be going forward with a 35-year old, undersized center.

Lets wait and see what happens in the playoffs. Chandler missed the last month of the year. So of course he looked rusty in Game 1. We still need him if we are gonna have a chance this year and even next year

Marion will be 36 next year. You will be in for a big disappointment if you expect him to start. Plus, Candler's value is much greater than that. We'd be getting the short end of the stick in that deal.

Another knee jerk reaction thread

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I think I know your backup plan - Get Dallas to sign the worst NBDL player to a $14 mil/yr contract in an S & T for Tyson.

We've just won a critical game and you already talking Shawn Maraion?

Shawn Marion?

We not talking about the playoffs that we have worked all season to get to. We not talking about surviving injuries, doubt, shift changes and potential mutiny. We not talkin about goin 54-28.

We talkin bout Shawn Marion.

Ugh - that's insane. This must be a frustration move.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I would like Marion back for his versatility and a body to actually put on Lebron/Durant/Rudy Gay/Paul George/Granger if he recovers
Also we would have to either get a trade exemption we could use to keep
Could also use a 2nd rounder this year

Martin/Copeland
or a FA

Would be happy with either or Vince Carter/Brandon Wright
to make up the difference of salary with Marion/Chandler

Only 2/3 teams that we would need a legit C for in the East are

Lopez
Noah
Hibbert

And I really like how we play with Martin and a more mobile PF/C

I would prefer

Hickson (who will opt out but we would have bird rights for)
2nd round pick
and trade exemption

But Marion is a nice piece to have to compliment Melo rather than Chandler who's DEF has declined this year and offense is non existent
The lane gets open so JR and others to penetrate, making us much harder to defend

I just don't think Chandler is the same player as last year and if we can get decent value for him while keeping

JR
Martin
Copeland

2/3 at least are actually more important to the team than Chandler is at this point
with the good/solid vet min C

like

Twolves
Chris Johnson/Greg Stimensa

Ryan Hollins
Hidaddi

Thabeet
Oden

probably more than vet min

So trade an all-star center and DPOY and get basically nothing in return? Huh?

Not Marion. We should be targeting Jerry Stackhouse. Maybe Juwan Howard if we're willing to include Shumpert in the offer.
