Dear Mr. Camby,
When you were in NY many years ago you also were very injury prone and missed many games. You could have been our anchor in the middle all this time if you ever proved you could stay on the court. We wanted so much to embrace you as our center when it was time for Ewing to move on. But we couldn't rely on you, so we traded you in the trade that accelerated our team's descent into a decade long abyss.

Now good basketball has returned to NY. But we traded for you and signed you to a very rich contract for a role player at $4MM per year for 3 years. And that's all that we ask is that you play a role. So far, you've been nursing that "plantar fasciatis" all year long. Rumor in the "fanbase" is that Coach Woody has been "saving" you for the playoffs. Well, I have my doubts about that, but the fact is it's playoff time. It's time to step up. Time to show NYers that they haven't been bit twice by believing in you. Time to suck it up and prove that you are not at this point a useless shyte that and we should have invested $4MM of cap space on someone else. NYers are ready to embrace you. Are you willing to do your part?

If your answer is no, please retire with dignity, and let NY move on without you.

Sincerely,
a cynical ****ing New Yorker

I have been a very happy Knick fan. After 12 years of misery the Knick are back to being a legit contender. melo has had a mvp year, jr smith has evolved, and our bench was solid all year. The one blemish has been the Camby signing. Camby refused to sign the vet minimum so we has to give him 4 million and trade assets to get him. all we asked from him was to play 10-15 quality mpg to give tyson a rest. Obviously Camby barely played. Thank God we have Kenton Martin a cheaper and much better signing

Besides Brewer, who still was able fetch a 2nd rder, Camby has been a complete bust. Only blemish on Grunwald's resume this season.

I concur that Camby has to call it a career also, if he really wants to help us. Taking up an unnecessary roster spot, that could've easily been filled by now.

Ultimately were going to have a very rough time with our roster. We are over the cap yet only have 7 roster spots taken including Camby and not JR. My take is guys like Kenyon Martin Chris Copeland and JR Smith are going to want massive raises compared to what they are paid and we will only have so much to give---and we have 5-6 roster spots remaining. Im just concentrating on this season but we have a cluster fck next year

Its time to come out and play. He was supposedly available a few weeks ago, so I must expect him to be able to give us 10-15 minutes off the bench.

The real season has just begun, Camby!

I have my doubts about Cambye even touching the floor this post season. hey if he does play and does a great job then i guess i'll eat crow but i feel that is a longshot

And Q and Barron if they contribute. Its a good problem to have. Only problem is JR we will likely lose him and nit have the cap space to add a key player until Amares is off the books and hooefully not traded for more damaged goods and castoffs. Next two yrs are very iffy but I think i trust Grunwald to figure it out. He appeases the fanbase and thinks like us. Unlike Layden and Isiah

I hope Camby can play. He could be our difference maker off the bench from the defensive end. All year, with all the injuries we had, we at least knew we had KT at the end of the bench to fill in spots. KT is gone. Camby really needs to pick up the slack now.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Are you joking? Start with the McGrady trade, ask the Sixers about the D12 trade. There are a ton of worse trades.

Agreed, but for clarity which trade are we talking about? The Camby for Dice trade, or the trade that brought Camby back?
The Camby + Nene for Dice was pretty terrible but not top 3 in the decade. Don't we have a top 10 worst Knick trades thread?

Anyone still remember the ig frontcourt lineup we played this year with Tyson and Camby starting? Worked well until Camby got hurt. Seems like it would perfect for this series.

I'd rather go with Barron as the back up center. Barron is a good rebounder, can hit the important 10-12 feet jumper with consistency. What Woody fails to do on the offense is pull Hibbert away from the Hoop on the defensive side. Amare and Barron give that element which Chandler and Martin are not able to give.

As for Camby just retire man. To rely on Camby as a Knick is asking for a miracle. Camby needs to take a lesson from Sheed.

This must be Camby's revenge on Dolan for his first stint with the Knicks. It makes no sense de-activating Barron, a viable alternative to Tyson, for a guy who can not, or will not play. Woodson needs to get his priorities in order, and start acting in the best interest of this team.

One sentence to Camby. Please give us a Kurt Thomas performance in game 4 to get this team back on track. All would be forgiven and he could sit and rest/heal the rest of the post season.

There must be something in the New York waters that get to Camby because it is only on this team that he has these catastrophic/chronic injuries that last so long. At the same time, I wonder how much of this has to do with Marcus being injured and Woodson not wanting to play him. This is the same guy, after all, that refuses to play Copeland or Prigioni despite them coming through for us time and again.
