melo can do no good for some of us knick fans until the team goes very far in the playoffs.

the mantra of suffering always maintains...

it's the way it is. sports...thems the breaks...uh!

imho, hard to argue anything other than dude has a been a top player who has carried this team in so many games this year, and as can even be seen by the most recent grantland article:

http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/58126/courtvision-so-this-is-what-carmelo-anthonys-prime-looks-like

those who say he 'hasn't done what he has to' YET are perhaps reaching for variables that fit one's line of belief...it is more than clear, statistically, that the man has upped his game this year, when it was already very, very good.

if we lose in the playoffs, (most likely the knicks will) i struggle to see how we can resort to the same 'ewing didn't win us a title' route and act like it's 'one player's' fault, which i personally feel is how some are gearing themselves up for to tout with melo, regardless. he's a failure.

it's so simple. just accept it. not the right player to win. as some of y'all continue to wait for godot...

I have no problem with Ewing's tenure here, he left it all on the floor and was an elite player on both sides of the ball for years.. He happened to be in the Jordan Era. MJ stopped a lot of guys.. No shame there..

I think Melo is really motivated this year to go deep in the playoffs. We all know that his playoff record isnt good so he definetly needs to get us to the ECF. I think he will.

ECF or bust for this year. Losing in the ECF will pacify a lot of people. Fans and haters alike. Next year Knicks need to get to the Finals. 3rd year they better win it all.

Winning it all is not easy. For me they just have to be in the mix like the 90s knicks were every yr. Just dont go back to being a lottery team that trades away lottery picks again in 3yrs

for me its this simple. We gave up on rebuilding and a young team that was making a lot of progress for a 'star' to build around. Now go be that star. We had seen some nice regular season runs with Melo here and that deserves a big whoop de do. He's a 41% career shooter in the playoffs. Thats a total embarrassment when you look at his body of work and the caliber of player he is regarded as. The Knicks finished this season great with Melo playing like an NBA star. Thats all I want to see... is this guy play in the post season like he's played on this last winning streak. That would be quite enjoyable.

Consistent play is what will win. Melo is notorious for following up big playofff games with these 8-24 shooting nights. Ewing's teams advanced every year for a decade. Melo's teams have advanced once in a decade. What the doubters are expecting is Melo is play like a star as he has been and take over a series (or two or three or four). Not have a couple great performances where he gets his that are sandwiched around these bad shooting games where he shoots us right out of the playoffs. Lets see him impress his will on a SERIES and take us deep into it. This is what Knick fans have waited for. This offseason certainly has a good feel to it. Looking forward. Lets get it going.

I think this team is ready. I predict a deep series against the Heat in the ECF. Fingers crossed.

More Symmetric. More Efficient.

You heard it here first folks! A scoring champion with Efficency! Symmetry!
Shot Chart Don't Lie!

Blame, I'm pretty sure, don't taste like honey or nuts. Not that I really like either. Maybe that's better left unsaid.

You have to love Ewing as a Knick, warts and stupid screens 40 feet from the basket and all. Save any of your hate for MJ.

You can't hate Starks for having a really bad shooting night in the Finals. It was, after all, the Finals.

When I see the Nuggets continue their torrid pace of winning without the STAR..... when they've had 2 of our former players plagued with injuries throughout their tenure there, and our team maintain a winning record without our STAR, and our STAR not put together sustainable performances in the playoffs leading to 1st round exits, I'm just not impressed with our STAR.

Hell Gallo had a tendency to get hot here.... at season's end, Lody Freakin Do!

When I see Denver winning at .600% pace and yet not making it out of the first round, like they did WITH THEIR STAR.

And when I see us going from .300 ball and no playoffs to .600 ball and a 2 seed.

When I see a broken down SF who's been overhyped since his first summer league run in with the late great Tractor Traylor compared to a current scoring champion who carries us on his back and drives the ball to the hole like no Gallo ever was or could.

Denver: nice run that's been done before, draft picks, flexibility not gotten out of the first round since 2010.
Knicks: incredible run, incredible increase in winning percentage, not much in flexibility, not much in draft picks, not out of the first round since 2010.

On the whole, I like being a Knicks fan. Better.

so any player that has failed to drive his team towards the NBA title is supposed to be a bust?

and Denver might have a good record, but they won't go far...2nd round AT BEST....Knicks actualy have a chance of making it to the Finals, or atleast ECF.

So you guys never got excited when Gallinari went on any sort of streak? It was just as unimpressive as Melo's right?

Lol. Most Knick fans are loving Melo on the Knicks. There are a few posters here who don't like Melo.

Melo could win the championship and dudes will say he needs to win multiple championships to be a superstar. Lol.

Actually I didn't think too much of it at the time because back then the heated discussions were Gallo vs Chandler. Chandler went down with season injury one who of which I vouched as talented, if not more so than Gallo and thought his hot stretch should have been kept in perspective. But it was a hot stretch nonetheless.

People are doing the same with Melo's stretch too though. No ones saying he surpassed Lebron with his latest streak.

now tell me, how do you calculate this.. based on what? I would love to hear how you come to this conclusion.. Now if you are going to say, this is just homer talk.. fine... but how can you pass this off seriously?

They're equating it to ECF appearance based on what? He got hot last yr and we could barely win a game against the Heat? They had no Bosh when we played them? Why didn't the hot streak lead to a 4-2 or 4-3 series against them?

Melo can or cannot do...
