KDurant will NOT play tonight.

congrats...now lets keep it up for the playoffs

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

ON espn this morning they reminded aboutt the 1978 season when David thomson needed 72 pts to over take George Gervin on the last game.

He dropped 73!

Then Gervin playing later dropped 62 pts and reclaimed the lead and the title.

Mike and Mike thought he should go for it. It adds drama.

Glad Melo has it but it would be cool if Durant made a run at it.

I think it means more to these guys then they say it does.

Personally I have no problem with individual honors as long as its in the context of the team objectives.

Naahh Durant gave up 2 weeks ago and Brooks so much as said so. No Hardcore competitive drive. Too much Momma's boy like Lebron/Rose/Vince. Much like Kobe gave up last yr and conceded to Durant more so out of feeling out of touch with it. Doesn't mean what it used to mean these days..... because these guys, this generation, is trying to maintain high level of respect/friendship/love with each other. It's like they're personally assisting towards career resumes. It's kind of a joke really.

Although Durant does a cut throat brings hands together move(which he got fined 25k by the league for) which translate to..."Kill Em Now Pray For Em Later"

It's like dude you're not that kind of a player still. Durant is rapidly approaching Lebron level not having it all there yet. The major difference for him going forward who can he collude with to get him over the hump?

Good...now Melo can sit his azz down and take some bully ball drugs.

We need him healthy if we plan to win it all.....

The NBA championship will be the Eastern Conference finals Champ.....

Durant could have won it this year like he has the past couple of seasons

but

He understood it doesn't mean anything to him anymore and took the role of improving his facilitating game with Harden gone
Might not be a triple double threat like Lebron but he is up there in points, rebounds, assist, steals, and blocks, as well

Melo just doesn't have the same athleticism, size, skills, to do some of the things they do
I hope he works on setting screens off the ball, moving WITHOUT the ball more, know when to cut/go fight for position, and playing off the ball vs trying to always get the ball

He has to use deception much more so we do not play right in to our opponents strategy on defense
Exert his energy/focus in all area's of game, not exhausting himself on mainly scoring, so that he can be a much more complete All Star
He could use the *perception that he will always try to score* against these defenses as they will not expect it, but this is something that Woody the TEAM/Players ont he floor must impliment together, it would be coming from left field, as no one will see it coming

Like it did for JR's game, it would make him and the team much harder to defend, and improve his game while able to give the chance of letting his team get in rythme with more touches on the ball

??isn't Melo already doing what you suggest

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Typical BS from the anit-Melo crowd. Instead of giving this man his due, you guys babble on about how the scoring title doean't mean anything anymore, or that Durant gvae up weeks ago. Durant didn't give up, Melo just went on an extraordinary run (avering 40pts over 6 games) and 35 for the month. Is it really that hard to give the man credit. Sheshhh!!!!

He'll get credit from the skeptics if or when he achieves something that they care about - high PPG isn't one of them.

Exactly right.

Durant gave up because he couldn't catch up with Melo's unprecedented pace. That and that 6'2 blackhole on KD's team.

He gets as much credit for a divison title as Ewing or anyone else gets - meaning a little but not much.

Exactly. Also they act like Melo actually cared too. If Melo truly cared, he wouldn't have sat out as many fourth quarters as he did. Stop hating and give this man his due. Had he not been a Knick, many of them would be riding his jock.

Durant still had the lead on Melo by .3 or .4 when he threw in the towel....

Melo cared because when they played OKC....comments were made prior to Tip-Off.... when he was injured Melo said he thought he had no shot but when he returned and went on a scoring tear, said he most certainly wanted to win it. It was on his mind when he wasn't in the lead and on his mind as he approached the lead.

Actually it was on his mind before any game was played this year when he said he would sacrifice his scoring average to 23-27ppg as long as we won....Scoring Matters to Melo...always has, always will.

I was just about to hammer out a response but thank you for taking care of that for me

"but he's inefficient and the stats indicate that he isn't very good and blah blah blah!"

whatever - I don't understand the point of posting here if you can't even get excited about the biggest news this team has had in a very, very long time. People did backflips here when David Lee made the All Star Game yet now a scoring title is ultimately a notch above meaningless. Whatever

PPG is unimportant. I give him credit for improving his scoring efficiency, though - that is something that merits praise.

So what that it matters? Is that a bad thing? The admiral, David Robinson cared. If he didn't he wouldn't have went out and scored 70. Shaq cared, the Iceman cared, so did David Thompson. Does that put all these hall or famers in the same nagative light as you view Melo? And you can bet your Classic #4's that Jordan cared too.....
