The way JR is playing on a 1st place team that will be a second seed and in that streak his team has not lost in regulation--is he better than Rudy Gay who happens to be a maximum level compensation player? I take into account JRs different style of play into the fray JR has avg 25 points and 6 rebounds shooting 55% in the last 16 games.

Rudy gay, because SWAGBALLS is playing out of his mind for the cash money in a contract year,

he will revert to lax style next season,

CAUTION TO ANY TEAM THAT SIGNS JR, WHICH WILL UNFORTUNATELY BE US :(

Rudy Gay because he can play within the flow of the offense.

JR Smith is given ALOT of freedom by Woodson on the offensive end. Woodson knows how to get the most effective use out of Smith.

Rudy is a better all around player, although when JR is on, he can score with the best of them.

The way Jr is playing his last 16 games is better than Rudy Gay.

Can teams really afford to pay a guy who is not known to be consistent on and off the court?

His play has been great. Im curious to see in the heat of the playoffs an crunch time can he keep it cool, make good decisions. His athletic prowess is undeniable.

In Chicago he got a tech that might have derailed the team a bit. Crap like that im talking about. once instance but this is how he'll be evaluated.

My take is he stays and we pay him year after.

Its a business, I am most likely wrong.

I think JR is better. If I was talking to him--I would NEVER take less--he already has. Injury BS anything--this guy is line to make 50mm $+

Depends on what you need them to do on your team.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Gay sucks. So did JR until a month ago. So I guess that means JR is better!

Rudy Gay's potentially is higher but JR has been playing much better this year and this recent stretch has been amazing
He was payed on this potential as a "max" player coming off a rookie contract, something many teams have to do in order to keep their "asset's happy, like Hibbert/Marc Gasol"
JR Smith has outplayed many players in this recent stretch *past 15 games*, including Paul George, but that does not make him better

Now, these are all players that have not peaked yet and still have the ability to get better, mentally and skills wise
Difference is Woody has maximized JR's potential this year with JR's hunger/dedication to getting a better contract

It is hard to answer who is actually better
while I think Rudy Gay is physically more talented with more potential, he can play SF that can play some PF with some G skills
JR is a SG that can play SF and has improved area's of his game that PG's have

It is hard to compare and it depends if you add their salaries in, JR is much more value for this year, but that does not actually make him BETTER than Rudy Gay

Can we compare Cp3 and Melo, who is better?
Who got the better value to acquire these talents in trades?
It is apples and oranges but in my opinion, I think we gave a much bigger/better package to acquire Melo while Cp3 is the overall better talent
While we actually had the leverage that DW wanted to establish with Denver and Melo to keep some assets...

Eric Gordon
Aminu
Cav's 1st round pick

for

CP3

==============

Melo

for

Felton that turned to Andre Miller and a 1st round pick
Gallo
Wilson Chandler
MosGov
1st round pick
2 GS 2nd round picks
Swap 1st round pick
30m+ in salary cap relief

We also loss AR which had value at the time and right now looks like a complete steal for Denver at 6m for 3 years
They also gained a very solid C in Koufus in the deal

. . . Apples oranges. . .

They are (perhaps not) surprisingly similar stat-wise: 17 and 18 in scoring, 41% and 42% FG, 5 and 6 R, etc.

Gay is basically a bigger version of JR Smith.
If JR keeps this new play up for 1 to 2 full seasons, I'll revise that statement though.

Really, Gay never had TS% over .550.

I really do not know who is better going forward. JR has always had to morph his game. He came is as a Kyle Korver type player running off screens and putting the ball on the floor. George Karl tried to make him into a back up point. Now he is a do some of everything player that tries to drive more. I just wonder what happens if his shot comes back or improves. Not only his decisions but his three point accuracy.

Gay outperforms JR in some areas but you're right that career-wise JR is a little better. I wouldn't want anything to do with Gay at his current salary or even one-third that salary.

Have not really seen Gay play much - every time I did see him he had bad games so can't judge just off of that. However he seems to have had very little impact on the Raptors - a situation where he had an opportunity to come in and really make an impact if he was up for it. He is a solid guy but he is one of those players that are always going to be overpaid and complained about. As of right now I would take JR over him, it is really team need dependent.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Very little impact on the Grizzlies too

Woody would be a perfect coach for Gay that would help him develop like he has done with JR
No doubt JR has been playing better than Gay but Gay has higher potential and talent

Like Gay he needs to work on all area's of his game like JR has improved with more focus, especially on DEF/FACILITATING/OFF THE BALL
I mean whoever thought JR would be the play maker that he is this year, with consistent rebounding, DEF, and improve his handle/penetration like he has done
I think his potential is right up there as one of the top SF's in the entire league AFTER Lebron and Durant
Will he ever reach it, I cannot say, but I would love to acquire him in 2015, especially if the price is right...

I think many here has not watched Rudy much and judge him purely on STAT's
While ZBO was out, he had much more opportunities, and he even was stunted by an early injury in his career
He has the skill's the abilities to play SG/SF/PF
His size/athleticism/skills/youth allow him to do many things and once he matures and continues to develop his game it would give him to edge to play better DEF and work on other area's besides his ability to score to be a complete player

Lebron
Durant

Melo *SF/PF but his strength allows him to play PF better, especially because he has a problem defending shooter's that take him away from the paint that doesn't allow him to use his strength*
Paul George
Pierce
Gay

JR *has moved up with his development this year, while he is a SG that can play SF and have some PG skills*
Parsons
Battum
Iggy

Deng
Klay Thompson

Gallo
Wilson Chandler

Granger *has dropped with his injury*

I consider Harden a big combo guard that can play SF if not he will be right after Lebron/Durant as well

SF's that can play PF's
==============================

Lebron
Durant

Melo
Paul George
Gay

Battum
Parsons
Deng
Josh Smith *consider him more as a PF than a SF*

Gallo
Wilson Chandler
Green
T Young
Tobias Harris

Wiggons resembles Rudy Gay more than Lebron, the young high school phenom...

RonRon, I'd take that gamble if he were making $3 mil a year like JR but he's making closer to $20 mil a year.
Who is better Rudy gay or JR Smith?
