WOW, dude looked like he got through crying as they were interviewing him and sat there like a true pro answering all of their questions as if he was ready to get back to crying. This is the only time I've truly felt bad for Kobe. I think the dude tried his best to do whatever it took to get his team as far as they could.

I wonder what the organization is thinking now....

What is MDA thinking now, this guy can not catch a break, he rides his best player into the ground.
I'm sure Kobe dictates his own minutes, but as a coach you have to know when to say when.

I feel sorry for both kobes and MDA, I was still holding out hope for a NY Vs Laker finals

Truly unfortunate. Kobe had a good chance to pass Kareem, now his career might be over.

D'Antoni has a history of riding his players into the ground. Amare, Lin, now Kobe. Playing his 34 year star 48 minutes a night just to get the 8th seed..unreal.

Happy Trails Kobe, you deserved better.

That's absolutely terrible. Not only the timing of it, after battling all season to get the team into the playoffs only to go down a few games away from the goal, but the fact it's a 1 year recovery process. Could really be the end of Kobe's career... oh man...

It's a freak accident but he was playing way too many minutes for a 35 year old player, so some of that's on D'Antoni because we've seen him ride players into the ground before. His minutes the last 7 games: 47.37, 47.04, 42.32, 47.20, 41.06, 48.00, 44.54. D'Antoni you idiot.

Western playoffs are going to be decimated with injuries:

Spurs- Ginobli & Parker
Lakers (if they make it)- MWP, Nash & Kobe
Denver- Gallo & Lawson
memphis- Gasol
Golden State- Bogut

Ha- slightly off topic, but I didn't realize in that game the Warriors shot 16 FT while the Lakers got 50FT! Well, the officials tried their best to get the Lakers into the playoffs...

Kobe went down twice before rupturing his Achilles. The second time he hurt his foot and played in pain and with a limp. Dantoni neede to take him out. Not sure when he is going to figure out that you can't run guys into the ground. The lakers have two huge decisions. Do they keep pretending mike d wasn't a mistake or do they move on knowing that it. Is probably the start of rebuilding. Also, Kobe has a massive contract next year. Do they amnesty him?

Lakers might actually fair better without Kobe. Dwight pau and nash will definitely form a cohesive unit

The best thing they can do is trade for picks and get under the cap. Maybe if they do that they can make a run at Lebron when he is a FA?

Rest in peace Kobe Bean,

hey at what point should we expect a player to understand his limits? guy is like 35 years old, that's almost middle age, ask to come out for a break if you need to,

what is this expectation we have from coach d'antoni to treat guys with baby gloves?

Awful news. Kobe looked understandably floored in that interview. ESPN said that Kobe was second in the league in minutes and averaging 45 minutes in April. 17 years in the league. D'Antoni is going to hear about it.
