Forget everything you heard about inconsistency, immaturity, poor rebounding, short attention span or undisciplined shooting.

There is not a shot he cannot make. He is an artist. Tonight he was 13-16 from the field with 5 rebounds for garnish. Think about that. 13/16.

“Me and Melo have been on the same team for the last six years and ever since we’ve been together, I feel like we’ve had a championship-caliber team. It’s just a matter going out there, passing the ball, playing defense and playing team basketball.”

Earl Smith has discovered his inner Kobe. He will not regress. Mike Woodson will be there to remind him.

"I can't speak for other coaches [who had Smith]. When I saw him last year, I liked what he brought to the table. It's my job as his coach to show him some love, put him in positions to be successful. But still coach him."

We are all witnesses.

Earl Smith playing out of his mind in a contract year? You don't say.

Smith always had talent. He still lacks focus for 48 minutes.

After the game Melo said that Smith told him I am going to get you some rest cause you looked tired. That's a teammate right there.

When Responding To Stereotypes, The Answer Man Has The Focus of A (Dr Evil air quotes) "Laser"

A. I do say. So did Earl Smith:

“I think anything is a bargain with me, whether I’m playing for a dollar or $20 million it’s a bargain because I’m going to play hard no matter what. No matter how much I get paid, it will never affect how hard I play and I think that should be thought about when people see me next year.”

AnubisADL wrote:Smith always had talent.

Rumor has it the day he was born, Earl leaped out of his moms vagina, right on to the hospital basketball court and dunked on an attending nurse on break, from the free throw line.

AnubisADL wrote:He still lacks focus for 48 minutes.

Absolutely. Last night in 29 minutes and 23 seconds Earl Smith missed three shots from the field, two free throws and one three point shot of three. To top it off, during the remaining 18:37, while he rested, he looked in the stands four times, talked with Steve Novak about the pre game meal for 20 seconds and wiped himself with a towel with his eyes closed. Total lack of focus.

How about JR growing up in front of our eyes...I mean, I never listen to what people say about how a player or coach performs on another team...U can't make a proper judgement unless u see the games night in and night out ...For all the talk of JR being immature and a loose cannon...He looks all grown up to me...People doubted his early season performance and tried to paint him into a box...Kudo's to JR and the effort he out forth this year...Eeerrrrrr is it Kudos to Earl Smith!!!!!

Great topic. Let's see how long it takes for someone to take a feel good topic and turn it bad.

Long Live Earl Smith.

Earl's driving dunk helped set the tone for the game in the Knicks favor.

JR's acrobatic layup in the 4th (i think?) was the one that stood out. Also what stood out is that steal/hustle play after he got a no-call on offense.

I have to say, starting Cope today ahead of JR was just wrong. Not only is JR a better player than any of the three PG, SG, SF players that started, but he is a better fit in the line up than Cope. Cope should be spelling him and/or Melo.

IsraelKnick - None the Knicks starters played exceptionally well. Shump was off. Carmelo shot everything he touched. Tyson was stiff. Raymond bothched a point blank layup. Cope had stage fright. Yet, we won.

At least Earl moved the crowd.

I would like to see just one series where JR shoots > 45 percent (for the knicks)

This is all I ask

Moving the crowd is great, being efficient in a playoffs series would be priceless

Israel - we shot 40 per cent as a team.

Hopefully, that burden falls on everyone to be more efficient

Boston's D had us scrambling. I thought Smith made the best of the situation. Gotta play better, but we got the W. they scraped by and they made clutch plays down the stretch. Still, not an efficient game. Smith was napping on some of those 1st quarter cuts to the rim. I expect more from our new and improved JR/Earl/6th man of the year/etc. lets make adjustments, clean up the mistakes, and go out and dominate this old lousy banged up 7 seed. KNICKS!!!!

Hopefully it does. But this thread is about him and he has been inefficient. For us to really contend he (and Melo) are gonna have to be efficient. I mention them because they both thus far have been pretty inefficient in the playoffs. And, they are our 2 best players.

other than shooting percentage, what is your criteria for being "inefficient"?

the game is played on both ends of the court
