They will be a 6th seed and lose in the first round in 5 games to the Bulls/Nets/Celtics. That's with Carmelo and Tyson both playing.

In other news, the Knicks are 1.0 games from the 2nd seed, and currently residing as the 3rd seed.
The story to take away from all of this is the tightness of the Eastern Conference playoffs for all non-Miami based teams.

The Knicks are hurting, both figuratively and literally. If they can absorb this slump, they still have some good ball to be played ahead. We have a month to figure things are and get our guns working. When this team is firing on all cylinders, I still see this as the #2 team in the East.

MaTT you are maybe taking the NYKMental position!

I don't see us winning another game until Melo comes back in full health, and I'll be honest with you, I wouldn't be surprised if news comes out in a few days that Melo will need surgery; this would be the worst case,

Worst case for us right now is we lose all remaining games and miss playoffs, that's real talk

I mean, without Melo and Tyson, we're not fielding an NBA team

They will re-group and finish 3rd in the East.

We are very centric on Carmelo. We still have the goods to win games without him as evidenced in Miami--I mean look at Denver--they are a much better team WITHOUT Carmelo--adding Carmelo would make them worse. But for the KNicks--we built the team around Carmelo--everything is based on Carmelo.

How fitting would it be if they free fell right out of the playoffs

I'll be totally honest with you,

free falling right out of the playoffs would be the BEST thing for this team,

it might the shock Dolan needs to wake him out of his stupor, so that we can eventually build a real contender and start enjoying some New York basketball agai

It will never happen he would have to pay Sam Prest 10 million a year and get out of the way

That makes me think,

we don't need Dolan to go all out and be the best owner in sports,

all we need him to do is get the **** out of the way, how hard is that?

At least we have a draft pick this year - isn't next year worse if we don't do well? It would be disappointing if we don't get in this year but long term for the team we need a good pick since our cap situation is awful.

I see a 2 & 8 stretch here.

I don't think we can miss the playoffs, but that would be astounding if we did.

I checked and it would be very very hard to fall out of the 8th spot. Just too much distance between 8th and 9th. Though I wouldn't mind, I'd rather have the pick then a 1st or 2nd round pick. And falling out would be telling to Dolan's plan, the destruction of Walsh's, not to mention Houston, GS and Denver finishing ahead of us.

We really might get that 7th spot if Melo doesn't return and/or we don't turn things around. I guess we can say it doesn't really matter, though homecourt would be nice.
Just a shocking fall after our start (which I questioned because of the heavy reliance on 3's). But the league figured we were a 2 trick pony. ISO Melo at the top, from there go to a P&R and then hopefully a 3 would be open (or something like that). Well, our 3's stopped falling and that put pressure on the other things, like
the frequency of Chandler getting ally oop dunks all game. Really, we are in a tough spot going forward. For us to succeed, the 3 ball has to fall at a high clip.

Wherever the Knicks wind up they are going to be swept so why does seeding even matter at this point?

Funny reverse Freudian slip in "win up" ;-)

Seeding matters as the worse the better for our pick, right?
Really, I don't think we are going anywhere so why not get the better pick?
I do have hope for the playoffs as we are a halfcourt team and things slow down, but reliance on our 3 pt shot is a bit worrying to say the least.

This team made the playoffs already by far. I guess at this point its serves our best interest to get healthy no matter seed. Seed right now is PR only.
