You kind of know what you are going to get with Amare Carmelo Tyson and even Felton(who needs to round back into form of earlier this year) JR Smith is Jekyll and Hyde. It would be best for the coaching staff to say JR 2 3pters a night max unless you hit them--the rest go to the rack or 14 footers--they started him in 2nd half and we played MUCH better because he can do things beyond shooting like PF play rebounds handle etc...Please start JR the rest of the year and JR 2 3's max unless you make them!!!

But the main thing is the role players that NEED to help. Its been great seeing J Kidd play well off the bench where he shouldve been to start. It was J Kidd and Novak along with Amare who changed this game. Novak has to be more consistent--he plays a role that we need--hes got to be able to play better and more consistent.

Team actually looked like a team last night.. which is why i said, with or without carmelo, this team is pretty much a good team, but maybe not a contender.. but I like what i saw without carmelo last night.. which is why I said before. I would trade him in some sort of deal to get rondo, even with rondo out, I know we would be better off in the future, and this year, we would still be a playoff team, as is......

Amare played with so much confidence and it didn't seem forced.. which is why i said he and carmelo just don't work.. it becomes too much of a "my turn, your turn" type offense, that stinks, and amare tends to get the short end of the stick.. and he tends to force the issue... last night he was motivated, that was the amare I saw pre- trade...... Now I understand we were playing cleveland, but still... positive steps...

I still don't know why Woodsen just doesn't start Novak. It makes no sense to give White 6 minutes a game and then never play him. He basically is acknowledging that they are throw away minutes. So why not put Novak out there with Chandler and Shumpert to mask some of his defensive struggles and get the guy in rythm right away so he can space the floor for felton and Melo. When he is hitting his shots it seems like the whole team gets energized.

Coaching can't be this complicated.

Need Smith on the bench to pick up the second unit when melo isn't playing. Too much one on one with both of them on the floor.

tkf, do you ever notice how Melo looks for Stat? Or am I just seeing things? When was the last time Stat ever looked for Melo?
I think the bigger problem is getting Amare to be as efficient on offense when Tyson is on the floor.

I know you're consistent in your Melo hate and Amare love, but at least try to notice a few of the bright spots.

Try to grow and stretch yourself as an individual!

I just think both guys are not willing or good passers... but both guys are fighting for the same space, and I think amare looks for carmelo less because carmelo is getting his shots.. I just don't think it will work jrod... which is why I have no problem shipping carmelo out pronto...

Jr smith gives me a headache, but he was doing a decent job playing scorer and playmaker, although he does make bad decisions, I think a lot of that had to do with all of the freedom he was given by woodson who is now growing tired of the errors.. well You enabled that woodson...

for me, there are just not too many bright spots with carmelo.. not enough and not consistent enough.... I honestly found myself somewhat pleased with what I was watching last night... Still not a fan of the JR smith heat checks and the felton blackouts where he just goes off on his own.. other than that I saw players who looked inspired as if they knew there was a chance they would actually see the ball, and not after a carmelo bailout pass....

Try to grow and stretch yourself as an individual!

huh? actually I have, which is why I have embraced other teams.. maybe this should apply to some of the others on this board... if growing is praising a guy who I think is an extremely overrated player.. then I guess I won't grow... not in that sense..

I noticed as soon as Prigioni comes in the game he makes players around him better, even as a 2nd or 3rd string pg on the knicks.

And there is a reason why.

The guy is 35 years old and he's use to winning , so he knows how to play winning basketball.

Look at his resume:
In 2001, Prigioni joined the Spanish club Lucentum Alicante, and he played there until 2003. In 2003, Prigioni joined the Euroleague team Saski Baskonia. With Baskonia he won several titles, including: 3 Spanish King's Cups in the years 2004, 2006, 2009, 4 Spanish Supercups in the years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and the Spanish Championship in 2008.

Not one knicks has won as many championships as he.

People underestimate his knowledge in how to play the game in his rookie yr in the NBA

I like Prigs but there are to many times he gets stuck in his defensive/offensive position where his back is turned from the basket while the possession clock tick away forcing a bad possession.

Is anyone concerned that Prigs might not be back next year?

playa, you need to find something that highlights more than one game.

not at all. I like Prigs and thought he could maybe figure it out how to score at the rim but he hasn't. It could take another year but he is just getting older. With Kidd on the books there needs to be a young speedy pg that can get in the lane.

I also think NY needs to start collecting the young untapped talent around the league like Casppi, Donte Green, DeJuan Blair. I would maybe make a play for Fredette and Patrick Patterson. Trying to turn Freddette into Redick. Different player and athlete but still.

No I watched enough and what I noticed is when the knicks space the floor and move around and keep the defense from resting defending their man, he becomes our best pg he makes everybody better .

He knows how to win, it's just his teammates don't know what it takes to do just that.

He brings a consistency basketball culture that only Kidd understands.

When they go to Iso ball he doesn't work well with that style of play, it's like asking somebody from the Spurs( team oriented) to come play for the knicks.

One of our biggest needs in the offseason will be to address the PG position both short and longer term. Having Prigioni was a stop gap. Hes played fine for what he does but we are paying J Kidd to be the mature PG and we need to use J Kidd and his knowledge to tutor a new PG.
