Criticizing him for walking off the court. And that if he was really injured he would need an mri. Since he didn't they are saying he didnt want to come back cos they were down 22 and he checked out not expecting a comeback.

I think they are offbase and he will sit out the Detroit game and return Thursday vs OKC. Hopefully the swelling goes down

please!

He would never do that and Jeopardize the scoring title. He lost 4 percentage points to KD last night and that may affect him winning it.

There is no way this could be even remotely true. Glad that the media did not REALLY see his selfishness.

Why is this so selectively difficult to understand? Over and over again.

Wait, let me go check what Charles Barkley has to say about the Melo and the Knickettes...

In a way its good if Melo sits out the detroit game. Allows the other guys to get accustomed to playing with Amare. We know Felton already is

OK....entertainment media. They are just doing their job, following in the steps of Howard Stern.

I hope he sits out as long as it takes to get right. Remember last March when he got over his nagging injuries? The guy went on a tear for 6 weeks. This is why he hasn't been shooting well. I also hope they at least try to play him more at the 3 so he doesn't have to bang down low as much before the playoffs.

Not saying his knee wasn't injured but it did look like he flat out quit- probably saw we were down by 20, didn't feel right physically and decided not to bother carrying on. But, I'm not going to blast him for it- I'd rather he rested for a few days now while he has the chance.

It looked suspicious but I didn't want to say anything about this last night. Melo also looked deflated after the Miami loss. Dude looks mentally checked out right now.

I said last night take his time coming back, it would be refreshing to see other players flourish if at all possible with what we do.

"Anthony looked embarrassed more than anything" <---boilerplate reprinted in almost 6 different stories.

Yes, because he's never fallen down on a basketball court before. Howard Stern school of reporting indeed. Surpised they didn't try to work in the Honeynut cheerio angle.

Or maybe Melo was just trying to catch a bus?

Really? I call BS because all season long I've seen the guy get beaten up, take fall after fall and get back up an play.

Apparently he's been experiencing knee soreness for some time and had an MRI reveal no structural damage. And last night, according to Woody, he asked to be taken out earlier in the game because of his knee and Woodson refused. Then whatever happened to his knee happened. If anything I would imagine he should be pissed at Woody for risking further injury to his knee. He knows his body better than anyone else...everything else is speculation. Also, I think that whole blackout incident he had in Denver where he was lying down on the floor and everyone played around him was way more embarrassing than simply falling over. Mike Bibby's shoe coming off during the playoffs was more embarrassing than falling. Missing FT's should always be more embarrassing than falling.

But yea...anything for a story.

Why? Because he didn't realize the extent of his injury and tried to be a tough guy and play through it? Is that what you're referring to?

He's fortunate to have only played a couple of minutes after the injury in a double OT game. Imagine if it had occurred say in the 2nd quarter of that double OT game and he played through it and he had seriously screwed up his knee further? I'm sure not being perceived as weak is worth potentially ruining one's career and value to a team.

I was thinking more like Shump last year. Melo got destroyed in that Lakers game and at the time it appeared he might have had a serious injury. I am worried he never totally got over it. His shot hasn't been falling as much and he is going to the basket and drawing fouls more but that is a lot more wear and tear on him.

Papabear Says

Andrew I agree with you but it seems a little lopsided when some people are chucking it up about Melo being weak and compareing him to Rajon Rondo. No one knows how bad that fall was but Melo, and he held his pride and walked off the court. The man gets beat down every game. I understand what you are saying but please understand and maybe stop that jab statement of the Rajon Rondo joke. In my humble opinion.
