Hear me out:

Yesterday against Miami we lost by 6. We had a similar game against them that the Memphis Grizzlies did a couple nights before, and no one is calling Memphis chumps. Miami is just an incredible team playing their best ball right now.

We played well on D for most of the game, but not when it mattered most. Woodson's rotations are scaring me, but maybe he's still trying to figure it out for the playoffs...maybe.

Smith was horrible. But this is JR. He really is a carbon copy of Starks. He, more than anyone else, is someone we are going to have to live and die by. It is what it is. Woodson needs to reel him in and make him take the ball to the hoop. Melo's jumper is off and you see him getting to the basket now and taking 15 fta per game. Smith needs that mentality.

Chandler is playing like the guy we signed now. This is good. But please, for the love of God, set a good screen. They need to have a practice where they just set good complete screens. This bothers me so much.

Amar'e still has stone hands, but he's playing ok. We just need to do better at hiding him on D.

For all the crap Felton gets, and much is deserved, he's not a bad PG. He's not taking as many bad shots and he's trying to get to the rim more now. Besides the elite guys, who would you rather have at PG? Yes, Lin is good and will eventually be better than Ray and we shouldn't have let him go. But this year he'd have the same effect as Felton.

Shumpert's D is really coming on strong. I don't care if he isn't making jumpers. He's being smart with he ball in his hands. He needs to play late in games like yesterday.

Melo is being Melo. I perceive that as a wonderful thing because I think he's a great player. Some might not, but oh well.

In short, we beat ourselves yesterday. I honestly and truly believe that. We're not hitting makeable shots. If we don't hit jumpers, we don't win. That's the bottom line. Eventually they will fall at a more average clip...better than now but not as good as in Nov/Dec. The problems we see now are correctable. The biggest concern has to be Woodson getting comfortable with game situations and matching lineups. Yesterday he went small to match Miami which was a mistake. One which I hope he understands and fixes. And for the love of God, if anyone doesn't get back on D because they're complaining, take their ass out of the game and fine them 100K. This has to be fixed because it'll kill us in the playoffs.

We may not beat Miami in a playoff series. They have arguably the greatest player of all time. But I think we make it a series against them. If we play like we played yesterday with anyone else I think people will have a hard time beating us. From now until the season is over they have to bring it every night. I think this team can make the ECF. I really do.

Now if they come out and lay an egg against Cleveland tonight, I will probably be singing a different tune........

The screens piss me off to no end.

JR is NOT Starks!!!

Felton is horrible.

Those 2 will kill us in the playoffs - mark my words.

the problem is that JR should be a #3 option, not a #2 option...too erratic
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

We stayed close but didn't execute in that last minute. Good game to me.

I saw that steal coming. Smith with the lazy pass.

I don't disagree that JR might kill us in the playoffs. I've said the same thing many times.

Felton, on the other hand, can play the Childs/Ward roll. I don't trust him putting up 20 shots a game, but I trust him getting the ball where it needs to go. He's not perfect but he's not horrible.

I don't understand what's so difficult about sticking a screen all the way through. Amar'e does the same thing as Chandler...

No kidding man. I was so mad at that pass that I thought I was going to pass out. A certain focus is just not setting in with JR. It's a shame because he could be a top 20 player. It's amazing how a lack of focus is the difference between being really good and really unreliable.

Interesting that when KT and Rasheed were in there we actually saw good screens and though KT does not do much but his screens alone should earn him burn.

Its an abomination!

How so? Starks was a better shooter and defender. But for this team JR is our Starks because of the streakyness and temper. Its really not a wild comparison.

overall i agree...not many teams are better than the heat...we beat them tiwce...i think this rivalry is overated cuz 1. when the games really count, theyll destroy us and 2. we prolly wont play them in the playoffs anyways

im more worried abuot chicago, indy and bk

I feel OK about the Knicks too if our ultimate goal during this short window is to make it to the ECF.

right. But I feel for this team he is a good comparison to Starks. Just like for this years Heat team LeBron is their MJ. Except Stark to JR is a closer comparison because they have the same skill set and position.

I think with how good LeBron is and having Wade on his team ECF might be our ceiling unless we play on another level. It's not impossible. Dallas topped Miami, Detroit topped LA....tings happen. Miami isn't as invincible as the 90s Bulls. But odds are they will be representing the East as long as Miami stays together.

Twice. Two shots would be 4-6 points for us and 4 points less( 2 foul shots and a dunk) them. When the hired gun starts shooting blanks, sit him down and let him regain his focus. And speaking of blanks, what's up with Novak? Copeland needed to be there to take some of those minutes. He couldn't have been any worst.

Well advanced stats show that Novak should be a max contract and playing at least 40 minutes per game.

Let's be honest, Miami isn't our only challenge in the playoffs. I could see us getting knocked out by Indiana or Chicago as well. Depending on how this month plays out and where we are in the seeding, I would say the likelihood of getting knocked out in the 1st round is as good as making it to the Finals the way we are currently playing. If we make it to the ECF this season, I'd say it's a successful season, but then it's basically 2014 or bust.

When I rerun the Heat highlights, it's mystifying how a 6'10 guy running at full tilt cannot manage to even bother or foul a guy in the corner shooting a three. How does Novak manage to do this consistently? Is it just slowness?

I know jr is getting his flak but so many of his shots were wide open by a huge margin. Should he pass on those and drive into a packed paint? Idk maybe he could have passed up the open shots like Kidd was doing which hurt the o.
