You come up with trades that would never happen even if those were the only players that could be traded in a season and the NBA required them to be traded.

You have a great eye for scouting draft picks, Briggs. Trade proposals, not so much...

I like the idea of getting O'Neal for money if the Knicks are allowed to and I agree that the Knicks need consistent scoring to help Melo, but giving up chandler and completely relying on O'Neal at center is silly and gives you less of a chance to compete than what they have now.

I would use Amare at center starting Oneal backed up By Kurt Thomas. Josh Smith would give me many boards and block more shots than Tyson now and double output scoring. Tyson does nothing against really good teams. That would build is closer to what Miami is right now with Smith and Melo.

O'neal is not going anywhere

I still say we pick up a pick up a big via the waiver wire Kmart, Lou Amundson or someone who is waived after the trading deadline

I would however try to trade for Ridnour without including Shump. Woodson has no faith in Prigioni. Nor should he

I would only trade Shump and/or our 1st Rd pickfor a guy like Milsap or Hickson.

I guess Amare, Kurt, or Novak would be our starting center!

Wed likely be a better rebounding team. With Smith Melo and a center----wed become young versatile explosive. Remember this is a guy who avg 19-10-4 last year. Tyson avg 11-11. Where is Miamis center?

Assuming the Knicks would even want Josh Smith.

Chandler to the Clippers
Deandre Jordan to the Hawks
Josh Smith to the Knicks

Let's look at that a bit more closely. The difference this year between Smith and Tyson is that Smith scores 5.0 more points per game on 8.9 more shots a game. This trade makes us much worse on both ends of the floor.

I'm pretty sure everyone criticizing the trade is asking the opposite question. Why do we want their PF chucker?

This would make the team faster, more versatile and more explosive. Certainly we would need a center and I would not do something like this without potentially acquiring a center like Oneal

But for one second lets look at this

I would not do it unless we had the ability to add a C but I would believe we can--in fact I think we can add Webster from Wash and Oneal from Phoi in a 3 way

what better our present team? or

Oneal C
Smith F
Melo F
Webster G
Felton--G
Amare
JR Smith
J Kidd
Novak
Wallace

Chucker? his lifetime FG% is 46.5% and he avg 4 assists 2 blocks???

Briggs, this is not a good idea. How can I tell ? Tkf is having too much fun with this. Also, because Tyson is our second most important player and also Smith would not be our 2nd most important player. Downgrade imho with the pick not being high enough to make up for it. There has to be a better way to get picks.
Everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of fear- George Adair
