Same guy who forced us into giving up the players we wouldve won a championship with if he remained patient. If we stay the same well be 2nd round at best and out--simple.

With all the facts in hindsight to evaluate his opt out, lock out, and pending surgery (minor, but still its surgery) you still really think he and the franchise would have "remained patient"?

I would agree with you that could we have retained our assets for either play or trades it would have enriched us to title contenders but I just don't think it was viable.

Regarding his "make no trades" statement, was it in the form of a question? Its good locker room politics isn't it? NBA players running their mouth because media has to do their jobs.

In other words, Carmelo Anthony doesn't want Iman Shumpert traded. And rightfully so.

Yeah they were asking him about the Shump trade rumors.

A disturbed Carmelo Anthony weighed in emphatically on rumors the Knicks were listening to offers for slumping swingman Iman Shumpert, who has struggled in his return from ACL surgery.

“He shouldn’t be worrying about that,’’ Anthony said. “The Knicks shouldn’t even be in trade talks right now.’’

What about your beloved Wilson Chandler? Denver's entire fan base has turned on this man. Wilson Chandler demanding a trade, but when in reality? Wilson Chandler is in NO position to demand a trade. See what I just did there? But yea, credit to Carmelo Anthony for standing up for what he believes in; which is Iman Shumpert. Props Melo.

is there something wrong with Melo not wanting the Knicks to let Shump go or something?
What's the deal here, it's like you nitpick every possible thing in order to criticise Melo.

there comes a point when one asks himself, do you even deserve players like him with this attitude?

I used to think people were joking when they said Knicks' forums were terrible (in the sense that everybody's always b1tching and moaning and never happy about anything), but the more time I spend here the more I realise how true that is.

It's a no win situation. If he doesn't emphatically say Shump needs to say fans will say he wants Shump gone. Bottom line is he doesn't impact the moves of the front office.

Well said. Melo can't even install faith/confidence in a young up and coming Shumpert without being attacked by the lynch mob. The sad thing is, it's only about 4-6 posters on here who harp all over Melo. Those same 4-6 posters? Bring their Melo hatred during just about each and every post of each and every thread. But with all that said, Carmelo has seen first hand how hard Shumpert has worked during the entire offseason, and respects this kid's heart. Would hate to see Shump go. Myself included. Melo, also seen how great of a defender Shumpert is when fully healthy. And maybe Melo, like myself, isn't ready to give up on a young talent who's yet to play 20 games since returning from injury. It's sad (more like pathetic) when our franchise player in Melo can't even state that our Knicks shouldn't be in trade talks (in regards to Iman) without being attacked with a thread such as this one.

Doesnt matter. Anything he said still would have been wrong to some people.

+1. Glad to see this thread didn't go in the direction in which the OP wanted it to. More Melo bashing. Old news.

Exactly....how bout melo just stepped up to show he had his teammates back......

With that said the knicks need to make a move...if its big so be it. We're about winning a championship...knicks need to get stronger inside and they bed another skill player

Melo can't win. It's sad he's being treated like ARod. If he came out and said he needed a trade people would be killing him. Support a teammate and he's a hypocrite because of how he got dealt here.

Imagine that- a player standing up for and backing his teammate! Melo is a disgrace, he should be bought out IMMEDIATELY!

When any one of us leave 20 mil+ on the table and do what is right for the company knowing your career is limited to x number of years then maybe we can say what Melo should have done..Not saying particularly u Nolad but this line of thinking keeps coming up like some here would actually have done it...
