I mean there's a line you don't cross and KG definitely crossed it. You don't say someone's wife tastes like Honeynut Cheerios.

I mean if you say Tunafish, kitty litter, or hot sewage, Melo would've just laughed and smiled. But Honeynut Cheerios! KG is out of control, man.

All joking aside, Melo has to control his temper and game better. +1 to KG for gamesmanship.

KG has known history of below the belt shots:

Knowing Tim Duncan's mother died of breast cancer, on Mother's day in the playoffs KG barked at Tim Duncan as he was shooting free throws:

To this day, Tim Duncan hates KG's guts.

Also the infamous "Cancer patient crack" on Charlie Villanueva:

Stay Classy KG!

I have said this before and I will say this again. There is such a thing as being overly competitive, even in professional sports. I don't think some people realize it but it's true. If you are going to call someone a cancer patient or make a reference to having an affair with someones wife to get in someones head during the game, then you are taking a very unimportant thing way too serious. I agree that Melo went too far after the game, but I cannot blame him either. Family comes first. I hope Lala is proud.

Yeah, KG's got problems. Still Melo shouldn't have fallen for the trap. If a colleague said that to me, I'd just chuckle and move on.

John Steiner, in the early days of ESPN, reported on an intercepted NBA playbook.

Among the many details, the playbook contained information on how to get John Starks lose focus.

"Say something about his sister."

Steiner was in tears of laughter for so long that he could not continue his desk job with any composure.

I've no issue with Melo at all, he doesn't need excusing- KG crossed a line and he got P***ed off, it can happen to any of us.

How do you not just laugh at Garnett for saying something that childish?

Are you married Bonn? If a colleague said something about your wife, you can honestly say you would move on? Would your wife even approve of that?

In some circles, a man's family is off limits in the trash talk game, especially wife and children.

Some may not honor family the same way, so to each their own.

The honey nut cheerios part is childish but he's still implying that he's having an affair with his wife. I can't blame Melo for reacting how he did.

KG should be suspended for personally insulting a player like that. If David Stern wants this game to be a respectful game, I'm sure you cannot call ref's wife "she tastes like honeynut cheerios" and get away with it. So why should you be allowed to say that to another player?

Given that this is not KG's first time saying crap like this, Stern must show them who's boss.

Maybe you are right... but we still have no clue if that was actually said. I would hope Garnett would at least have the sense to not make a remark about Melos kids. (If he has any??) We still have no clue the extent of their verbal battle down there. Perhaps Melo said even worse things first!

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Garnett is a punk and a dirty player, people respect his game but many don't like him for his antics, he's that kid in school who talks tough because the teacher is there but when that bell rings he would be nowhere to be found . I have no problem with what Melo did , he was talking about how Melos wife tasted, that is not playing mind games that is asking to get your *** whipped.

Because now his collegue is creating a poor work environment by saying that. Then again, you are right. If he's just ignored hopefully it stops. If it continues wouldn't you think further action would need to be taken?

Have you never lost your temper when someone's been deliberately pushing your buttons and insulting you or your wife or family? Really? Of course to an outside observer it seems a bit silly, but when you're caught up in it yourself it's a different matter entirely- it's just human nature, we have emotions.

Suspending him for that would create a lot more issues than it would resolve
