this!
that's what I thought but, upon 2nd thought, it would more likely be Kidds minutes (I expect). Kidd unlike Brew is an elder statesman who's minutes need to be cut back. If Melo starts at Power Forward, I expect Brew to start at the 3. If Melo plays the 3, Brewer should come off the bench
Woody has a tought call... I see two options.
Start a big frontcourt w/ Melo/Stat/Chandler and keep the current backcourt of Kidd/Felton.
good: status quo in the backcourt which I believe is the motor that keeps this ship humming. We have seen Melo miss games and Knicks are not as good but can certainly compete. Without Kidd we have looked pretty lost at time. Shockingly so.
bad: you now have 2 of the same player to bring off the bench. JR/Shump off the bench are pretty redundant. JR comes in for Kidd. Who does Shump replace? Felton? Amare? Melo? Maybe even Chandler and you go with 3 guards MElo/Stat? Like the starting lineup, hating the sub options after
Start 3 guards (Felton/Kidd/Shump)
Good: Shump is an upgrade to Brewer. Knicks become faster and more athletic.
Bad: too many guys out of position. Melo at PF and Shump or Kidd guarding SFs. Weak on the boards and small. Whoever has to guard to bigger guy is going to get banged around.
Tough one.
