The Knicks got so close in the 90s but always had a knack for shooting themselves in the foot with poor 3pt shooting and high TO's. The difference now is we have Kidd and other savy vets with rings who won't shrink when the pressure is really on. The calmness and ability to slow down the game that Kidd brings is really special. Never really had someone like that out of the guard position with Ward, Childs and Starks. Those days you were just waiting for the shoe to drop. This team feels different. The camaraderie is there like with the 70, 73, 94, 99 teams.

Woodson has them prepared to play every single night no matter who the opponent is. Miami is obviously going to turn it on in the playoffs again but the Knicks are so deep and might just have their nuimber this year. OKC is incredibly talented but still very young and our savyness can force them to lose their composure like they did vs Miami especially Westbrook.

I'm starting to get a little giddy. Who is going to stop us once Amare returns? Is it finally our time?

I'm on board with the enthusiasm, but if this season turns into a This Ship Be Sinkin season - I'm blaming this thread

Fair enough lol I just get a feeling this team is different and Kidd is the main culprit. We've never had a heading veteran who can still play. Of course the key is to somehow keep him healthy for another 70 games or so

I think this Knicks team is close. In the east, Miami looks like they will get worse each year. Wade is past his prime, Bosh is still soft, Allen is old, and everyone else is terrible. Knicks have a strong, deep team. I think this summer we need to look at adding a young big man who is rugged and can get better. Someone like Dejaun Blair. Hopefully Stoudemire comes back and can accept a role off the bench and kill. Hopefully Shumpert gets his ability back and improves. This team is very close.

It's not a coincidence that when Kidd plays - we seem to be flowing the best.

A bitter pill to swallow considering this is the same guy that was regularly beating our asses along with "The Best Point Guard in the NBA" a decade ago. But that as 10 years ago.

We've said for YEARS that we needed leadership and we got plenty now.

We are not winning anything without Amare returning to full strength. We need him to establish himself in the paint. Our team defense is realiable, our offense other than Melo is not to reliable.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Yes it does because we now have an excellent management team and players and they are all moving in the same direction.
FIX THE KNICKS / AND MAKE THEM SHINE / GET ’EM TO WIN LIKE ITS ’69 / HITTIN’ ALL THEIR FREE THROWS / AND NO MORE SHOOTING BRICKS / TIME TO GET IT RIGHT / AND FIX THE KNICKS

Absolutely. We have depth, defense and cohesion. A superstar (possibly 2).

It's a no-brainer if amare is full strength. But at this point, I honestly believe a full healthy team and amare giving just enough, we et to the finals.

We are the best team in the east. And we aren't full strength.

We will be full strength after the all star break and will mesh to the ECF.

Then it's us vs the heat and this team, in the. Off season, was assembled to beat the heat.

OKC. That's another story. :-). We will def need all star amare to beat them.

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

The key is to limit Amare to about 28mins a game. If he plays 38mins like in the past he won't last til the end of the season and I think the Knicks know this. So getting guys like Sheed, KT and Camby who can step right in and know how to play is key. As oppose to guys like Jorts or a Jerome Jordan who get overwhelmed by savior vets

I think we have as good a chance as anyone against OKC. They struggled last year vs Miami because of Miami's quickness on D. I don't see how the Lakers or the Spurs are going to stop them. But teams like NY and Memphis have the quickness on the wings to keep up with them.

I don't think the Clippers have enough wing defenders. I guess it depends on how many minutes grant hill sees when he returns

Our defense hasn't been as good since the 6-0 start, I still think we're taking too many threes, and I'm going to maintain a wait-and-see approach to Amare's return. But, I'm starting to believe we can make some real noise this year especially if the Lakers aren't able to figure it out this season.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Let's get the best Eastern record by the All Star break first.

If we can do that, and maintain our pace and stay healthy to the end of the season, then we have a shot at hosting home games against Miami. Then who knows after that...

For now, just have to worry about Chicago.

that would work. last year I thought the offense only worked when either Melo and Chandler were on the court together or Amar'e and Chandler. It didn't work when all three were together. It will be interesting to see what rotations work. I'm pretty sure there's some role that Amar'e can help the Knicks with and I would have loved to see him run the break with Felton, for example, last night

Good article asking the same question. JVG, sports writers, and fans weigh in. Too big to cut and paste.

I think OKC and Memphis are slightly better but we're definitely up there with them and SAS and Miami. I think Miami still has to be mentioned even though they look a notch below the other four teams above.

Anyone know why Joel Anthony is playing only 5mpg? Is he injured? He was an important role player last year.
