Pau Gasol. Where will he land?

Pau Trade Pending. Likely will flip him to a non-threat team for some youth. Sacramento Kings would be an awesome trade for both teams.

Other likely destinations:

Toronto - could see it. they could make the playoffs in the East with Pau. They have a young PG and some forwards to toss in. Bargs for Pau?

Less likely since running game and Pau is not built for that now:

Houston - could give up youth, but why would they? unlikely since they are going young

Milwaukee - unlikely since they are going young and fast and Pau is neither.

Indiana - likely destination with Donnie there.

Detroit - unlikely since they are going young and tumble, but have some nice pieces - but would D'antoni play them?

Cleveland - unlikely since they are going young

Charlotte - unlikely since they are going young, but they could make the playoffs in the East with Pau. They need a low post guy. They don't have anyone to give besides Ben Gordon though

Washington - unlikely since they are going young, and have no one worth returning

Dallas - unlikely since they have Dirk coming back, but Pau plays more in the post anyway and could play Center on the Dallas team.

New Orleans - unlikely since they are going young, and don't have the pieces to return

I could see Dallas offering up Darren Collison and Shawn Marion + filler for Pau. God knows Cuban is a willing dude when it comes to franchise moves. They could have a Lamar Odom scenario all over.

Edit:

Darren Collison is being benched for Derek Fisher straight off the street. Marion could thrive with the Lakers and MDA/Nash.

Dallas would get Pau + filler (Jordan Hill, Darius Morris, whoever). The Lakers would get a younger, athletic PG to backup Nash. And Marion. He could share minutes at the 3 and 4 with Antawn Jamison and Ron Artest.

I wonder if the Knicks should make a run at getting Hill back. He has played great for the Lakers and his minutes have declined quite a bit since the coaching change.

I don't know. Not sure if I would give up on Camby but pre-Dantoni Hill was a real spark for the Lakers.

I agree about Hill. He's looked good.

And I would love a frontcourt of Copeland and Hill. THAT HAIR!

Next up Kenneth Faried, Marquis Daniels, NENE and that Carroll dude from the Jazz...

I would move Camby in a heart beat to get Hill back. The kid could potentially solve our rebounding woes with the energy and activity he brings off the bench.

It's not fair to Camby because we haven't seen him yet but it is obvious he and Woody are at odds right now.

I was looking at different team salary structures and while 19mm is a lot of $ I found atleast 10 teams that could do it-- and have the reciprocal talent to do it

Come on, you wouldn't want Hill back for Camby??? We could have Hill and Copeland in the game at the same time. Dreads just a popping and flyin everywhere!!!!

I wish Stat's contract was tradeable. It would make a Gasol/Stat centerpiece a decent move. Stat could re-unite with Nash on the bench in LA with .
You know I gonna spin wit it

Lakers would probably be interested in either landing a stretch 4 or a mobile/athletic PF, and a package of shooters/role players, to run Dantoni's philosophy.
Probably looking for 2 or 3 pieces in return
Obviously the PF is the most important piece they would need, along with a SG/SF with the ability to shoot the wide open 3pt shot, and maybe a PG that could penetrate and hit a wide open shot.

or

if there are any way under the cap teams looking for a skilled Center, that would be able to offer back an exemption like the one we offered Dallas back for Tyson Chandler.
With that exemption, they would be able to sign a player such as Josh Smith in the off season to pair with DH12 and keep him happy with his "BFF"

Toronto
---------

Barngani
Jose Calderon
Kleiza

Bobcats
----------

Byron Mullens, Ben Gordon, Jeffrey Taylor or Gereld Henderson, and Diop*probably waived, just to make the numbers match*

Lakers would have to throw in some lower level salaries but Bobcat's would get to keep Detriot's lottery pick for absorbing Ben Gorden's contract for free.
They lose Mullens but not sure if the Bobcats want to pay a 8m -10m per year to keep him for next year.

Lakers could use Sessions and his ability to penetrate with with Dantoni's system.
They wanted to save money, as they are the highest payroll team, close to 100m payroll.
Think it was a big mistake by not spending the extra couple of bucks especially with the way they are struggling.
Sessions played well prior to Kobe returning last year, without the ball moving, and getting less opportunities with isolation plays for Kobe.
I think NOT resigning Sessions and NOT using their MINI MLE for a shooter like Delfino, instead going a cheaper player like Jodie Meeks at half the price.
Regardless, I don't see how the aging Lakers will be able to defend OKC and the younger/athletic team/players in the West, they will have to score efficiently like Dantoni's Sun's days.

Bucks
----------

Ilyaosva, fillers like Gooden and get rid of his contract, Udrich's or Dalembert

Ilyasova has been playing poorly and if they have doubts about his contract, this would be their chance to unload him.
More importantly unloading Gooden.
Both played great last season but have been far from their that this sesaon, with Gooden without a game this year out with injuries.

Suns
--------

Channing Frye, Jared Dudley, Wesley Johnson?, and an exemption as they are much under the cap.

I guess it would be depend if Frye is going to be able to play this year or anytime soon in NBA shape.
I am surprised Suns did not offer a contract to Mayo if they were willing to offer a max contract to Eric Gordon

New Orleans
--------------

Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon,

I am sure Lakers would love Ryan Anderson but don't see why NO would pull the trade without any draft picks/young players to sweeten the deal.
I am not sure where Gordon's value is at this point, as a MAX player.

Gasol/Anthony Davis is a pairing that would both be able to work, and both capable of playing the HIGH or low post.
I just don't think they would be looking to give up a stretch 4 like Anderson.

Atlanta

----------

Josh Smith, Kyle Korver, and fillers like Anthony Morrow/Deshawn Stevenson

like New Orleans, they would probably want back a pick, but the difference would be Josh Smith probably would not be part of Atlanta's future plans.

Detriot
-----------

Charlie Villenuva, and some fillers like Maggette, Austin Daye, Will Bynum

Utah
----------

Millsap/Marvin Williams and fillers

Gasol would give Utah 1.5 seasons for Kanter/Favors to continue to develop, more importantly unloading Marvin Williams contract.
It would depend if Utah will want to continue to invest in Jefferson as a undersized Center, and if they can get back value in Jefferson/Millsap in potential trades.

Memphis
------------

Zack Randolph, fillers like Wayne Ellington, Selby, Quincy Pondexter

another highly unlikley but it would be interesting to see Gasol brother's playing together.
I am sure Bayless would work well with his ability to penetrate and hit the wide open 3pt but another unlikely scenario, especially with Memphis's early success.
But just had to put this one in there because of their past history and as skilled Centers/brothers in the league.

Stat would have to play for a stretch injury free and at a relatively high level for the Lakers to consider it IMO. I'm curious to see how Stat fits in when he's back.

Knicks. Lakers coach Mike, wanting to remake the Suns pushes for an Amare&Filler for Pau and a draft pick (my dram scenario) I know its fantasy land but, let me dream for the moment
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

No one is going to trade for an unmotivated Gasol.

People forget when Gasol wanted out of Memphis. Gasol needs to be traded to a team competing for a championship.

I can see a 3 way involving the Knicks.

I don't get why Pau still wanted to be in LA up to this season- the GM is always trying to trade him, Kobe is always calling him out, his coaches kept calling him out (Phil now D'Antoni) & the fans always blame him when the Lakers lose in the playoffs. I don't watch him play much, so I've no idea if all the criticism is warranted, but he's put up with a lot of it during his time with the Lakers- surprised he's never asked for a trade before now.

A bad day living in Malibu on the beach is better than a good day living in MIlwaukee. Or Indiana. Or PHilly. Or Minny. Or clevland.
Or Orlando. or ATL. or OKC. Or Dallas. Or Houstan. Or San Antonio. Or Toronto. Or South Beach. OR NY. Or CLT. Or Nola. Or SF.

Not to say playing and living in some of those places is not real good but if I could live on Malibu and work in LA, I'd pick that combo over any place. Even Miami.
