You win or lose by playing the same way having the same mindset that made you 6-0 and if you don't, you'll play just like you use to.

Felton when your shot is off, you penetrate with the tear drop or dish for a layup when the lane is open not shoot jumpers.

Coach Woodson, you should have started Sheed and brought Kurt Thomas off the bench to play against Reggie Evans with the 2nd unit.

Avery Johnson outcoached Woodson on this one. Had no defensive answer for his team defending Stackhouse.

When Novak plays against a good defensive team he freezes up and shoots to fast and it becomes mental.

Allowing Stackhouse to be open with no picks used to do it, shows we didn't see the urgency to cover him = MENTAL.

Carmelo hurts the confidence of his own teammates when he makes & takes games personally like the one against the Nets..

Melo loses focus very easy, he needs to correct that if he wants to lead.

This game was lost mentally, bad enough that Kidd didn't play.

Amare never played college ball, Melo only played 1 year where the college team was built around him.

Jason Kidd He alone understands the game is 90% mental, this is why we missed him so much last night.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

As Rasheed points to the brain, this is a great example to show where the game is won.

If we are questioning our players mentality, I am scared for the team.

another great example of where the game is won? Baskets made. Sheed shoots 2-11. Even Einstien would be hard pressed to use brainpower to overcome such a crappy shooting performance.

This is an old old old team. Glad we got off to a good start but are we competing for a title? Unless the player we need to push us to elite are named Amare and Iman this team is hosed.

Of course if the Knicks dont win we can always read the "Im proud of this team" thread to warm up some good feelings.

Im sure the answer man will calm any fears and ensure Prigosanity or some such is right around the corner. Or maybe its just more Melo drama

They got quality shots for a good portion of the game by breaking down our d and swinging the ball. Shot selection was key. I saw plenty of times where JR, Melo, Sheed, and Tyson all were too lazy to rotate out to shooters. Don't start crediting our lazy defense. The nets are just the anti-D'Antoni...slowest paced team in the league.

Unfortunately all 90% belongs to Kidd...

He's the calming influence in the lockerroom and especially the floor. Woodson's assistant coach directing traffic. We had none of that yesterday. Felton runner after runner missing, Melo resorting back to hero ball, and bad JR backing out to the 3 pt line instead soaring for the dunk...

Get better Coach Kidd...we need you.

Remember when Pat Riley use to challenge the Knicks and tell them "you have to play smart and mentally be strong".

1.) When you are playing your heart out and you are physically drained, The refs can jerk you around mentally with phantom calls.
2.) When a team makes a dynamic momentum play like an ally oop dunk or a vicious defensive block, no need to cry to the refs or try to hurry back and force something and play right into the hand of the defense.

This game is a game of cat and mouse so if you don't know your style and play being poise as a team, you will become frustrated trying to play the tempo of the opposing team and that is where you lose games.

Im proud we did nto lose our cool this game.

I get homers dismay over the game, but we really did not play that bad. It was a tie after regulation.

i agree. although its frustrating because felton pretty much cost us the game. I mean all he had to do was work teh ball around but he lauched yet another bad shot

He took what the defense gave him. He hits those shots on most nights.

There is lots of blame to go around. It was a close road game which makes it a better loss.

Give credit to Deron, he controled the pace and I thought played brilliant.

We missed Kidd. Amare and SHump have not played yet and our record has been just fine without them.

Only Kidd. I thought Brewer did a great job on Joe Johnson who might be a bit too big for Kidd to handle.

the pointing to the head thing is just silly.... just play smart.. people will notice... the sad thing is that they will point to their head, even after not making a smart play.. a smart play for these guys is the ball going in the hoop... no matter how it got there and at what expense.... sometimes guys just don't get it fish.. they just don't....

Brains are not needed to know the top shooters last night all missed the majority of their shots.

Felton missed 16....Melo missed 13 and 6 inexcusable ones at the line....and Sheed missed 9 of 11.

Even Novak followed suit....hit the shot inside the arc, but missed the threes?

So riddle me this, what made our team play smart and have a mentally tough attitude the 1st 6 games.

Was it the media hype of the game last night that had us revert back to the style that lacked team cohesion(especially in O.T)

Or was it just a back to back game and Melo had a personal interest being born in Brooklyn and wanted to represent...Didn't he grow up in Baltimore ?
