You are right, it wont. But MVP candidates usually get doubled. Some here are convinced that the opposition never game plans for Melo. It was clear that Dallas' intentions were to take him out of the game with doubles....He did a good job of moving the ball early and had a number of hockey assists. Got a few non-calls aswell.
Melo was played straight up for the majority of the Dallas game by Marion/Crowder/Jones. He may have been met at the rim but he clearly wasn't constantly doubled yesterday.
Matter of fact the PNR with Felton proved to be more abusive on their defense yesterday hence Chandler finish several AND 1s because of trapping Felton early in it.
yea, marion single covered him, so did crowder....I think guys see the help defense come over when the player drives and think he is being doubled... I don't know bro... carmelo started off the game shooting bad... dallas didn't have to do much..... and again with the hockey assist.. LOL jeez, this is just going overboard...
I coach as well, so I pay very close attention to the details on the defensive end of the floor, looking for things to steal and use for my teams. Trust, Dallas was sending double teams his way, particularly in the first half of the game. No so much in the second half after Knicks were lighting them up from behind the arc in the 1st half. Basically, when Melo received the ball in his sweet spots, elbow and in, they would send another player at him. Again, this was mainly in the first half.
Hockey Assist? Yes, anything that gives Melo a little bit of credit is overboard in your eyes.
