I am as happy as the next guys about our surprising early dominance this season. The old guys contributions to the bottom line, and to the team chemistry far exceeded my expectations.
Not sure if you've noticed, but this must be the first time since this site started we've gone this long without dozens of trade scenarios popping up daily. I think we have a good chance of going the season without a trade, and not because we're stuck with ****ty contracts.

However, if we have room to grow and be EVEN BETTER, it can come from within. One guy I've been surprised at that hasn't really played up to his potential is Tyson. There should be plenty of opportunity with the quality passing from our PGs for this guy to score at least 15 points per night, especially with no competition for pick and rolls with Stoudemire. Likewise, I'd love to see him give more effort on the boards. Tyson had some Dominating games last year (see the game against Orlando where he SHUT DOWN D Howard and scored efficiently) and I hope we can look forward to seeing him return to form. He can big a HUGE part of our success this year.

Come on, T! Bring it back!

Agree 100%. I think his new nickname is Flu Tyson because he hasn't recovered from the flu he had during the Miami series. He is committing too quickly and either getting in foul trouble or letting guys go right under him as he jumps too soon or just flat out letting guys blow by him like he is Amare or something. He needs to pick it up, get his head in the game and play like the $14mil player he is because right now he is playing like a $5mil player for 20mins a night and his picks are garbage. Needs to watch KT, Rasheed and Camby

I'm not as concerned about his offense as I am about his defense, rebounding and foul trouble...I think Chandler will come into his own..I think last year there was a stretch of games where he played consistent ball and effected our defense tremendously...I would like to see him hit the boards harder...He doesn't have the offensive responsibility, so he should be hitting the offensive boards...Overall tho, I'm not worried...We are going to need him down the stretch and in the playoffs..I'm confident he will show up...Just stop the dumb fouls...

I noticed him being more agressive and taking the open jumper they give him. Then I saw exactly why he always passes it up

im a big tyson fan but i have to agree his rebounding and defense has been nothing like it was last year so far. yet despite that we are still 8-1. Imagine if we can get tyson to play like he did last year. Now its still early so hopefully he will get back on track

He seems over anxious once the game starts like he is trying too hard to provide defensive energy. Like he is giddy about the opportunity to play on a team where everyone defends. He needs to calm down and refocus

It's like he wants to justify his DPOY that he overplays or gets into foul trouble. Sorta feel the same way about Novak. He's so desperate to pull out the belt that he rushes his shots.

So glad that we're stacking W's in the midst of all this...we're nitpicking on Tyson not playing D and Novak's shot not falling! Bizarro world...

yes I think there is something to winning the DPOY. Let's hope both guys turn it around. If they do and we get Amare and Shump back watch out!

Tyson is what he is a very solid defender that is highly overrated. He's off to a puzzling start, hes not a top 20 rebounder or in the top 100 in shotblocking. He commits dumb fouls game after game and his impact is far overblown.

At 14MM he should he really making a huge difference. Right now he's a middle of the road big man in this league. Howard was the dpoy last season people were just tired of him.

Although none of this matters because the point guards are playing great turnover free basketball and the team has lots of options and is sharing the ball.

I think Tyson doesn't look as good because everyone is buying in and playing solid team defense.

He aint the same as last year and honestly he doesn't really have to be.

He's fine, the talent upgrade tends to make the better one look a little average.

I'd rather him collect his fouls trying to block peopel shots then wrestling with scrubs for position 15 ft from rim. HIm just jumping effects shots..problem is he doesn't jump to protect the rim often.

Definitely not Hate..He still does work but it's not the same level of production as last year. Polite criticism is what I would call it.

Criticism and hate are two different things

Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Gotta be careful criticizing a team that is 8-1. Some people get a little sensitive. Polite criticism is the way to go

Him winning the DPOY last season is the reason the standards are so high for him this season. I think thats a good thing that you expect that high level defense from your starting center. I dont think anyone on this team should be untouchable though.
