Kidd was my #1 offseason target and here's why..

Interview with Tina:
This morning at #Knicks shootaround in San Antonio, I talked to Jason Kidd about what he's been doing to make such a big impact on players in such a short time with the team

Jason said,

“I’m just doing my thing, sharing my experiences because I’ve been around the league so long. The main thing I tell every player:
is don’t panic ... the big thing is to always be calm, accept the moment in the game ... if we’re down, we’re going to work together in the game to get back in there, and if we’re up we have to continue playing the same way ... which is hard... But to also have fun. We have some talented guys here and they have to have that confidence. Because with confidence in this league, guys will learn they can do a lot more than what they’ve done in the past.”

When did you realized it takes more than talent to succeed in this league ... that you have to apply a strong mental aspect as well?

“There’s a learning curve. When I got to Jersey, it was a team that won 20-something games, I thought they were talented enough to be a team that could have won 41 ... and to give them that confidence or security .... such as when we’re in a flow ... we have a good chance of winning. When they start believing that, the team starts getting on these rolls, and you start winning and it breeds confidence throughout the whole team. That’s what I think we are doing right now, where everybody is gaining this confidence; ‘Hey look, we can win every game if we play the right way!’ Now, you’re going to lose some, but in the long run you’re going to win.”

When it coems to the basketball court kidd is a genius. Now outside the game he makes a lot of foolish decisions but on the court he will help your team get where they need to go

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about his DWI back in July.

He's pretty much tailor-made to be a head coach down the road, IMO.

It's really hard to know from afar how important the off-the-court stuff is. I'm not discounting it; I just don't know. Is it Kidd, is it the New Melo, is it Woody having the "interim" label removed? Some combination of the above? Clearly, though, the team has its collective head in the right place.

All that aside, I've been reallly impressed with Kidd's play. He still is athletic enough to play very solid "d", staying in front of his man almost all the time. He still gets his hands on a ton of balls, he still has the aggressiveness and great instincts that get him to loose balls ahead of quicker guys, and, you gotta love his decision making on offense. He moves the ball so well, shoots when he should, drives when he should and hits enough shots to be a threat.

I can tell Woody is gonna have trouble keeping his minutes where he knows he should.

Kidd's impact has been more than I had hoped for. I thought he was on his last legs but he appears to have an extra set of legs, or two.

He's a steady hand in an unsteady time and he is just what we needed to balance Carmelo's 'iffy' leadership.

What a great counter-weight Jason Kidd is, a true Ace in the Hole.

I expected Kidd to improve team chemistry and mentor other players, But I'm also pleasantly surprised with his showing up to camp in the best condition in years. Kidd really is playing like a man on a mission and showing real leadership.

Had to DVR the game, running a good hour behind, don't know the score and refuse to read a single post on this board until after the game. Just had to take the time to mention, before I forgot, Jason Kidd. I have watched him so closely tonight (3:00 left in the 1st), and Jason Kidd is a walking HOF legend with lots of ability and maybe even years left. In better physical condition than most of these 20 year old NBA kids. When you watch him closely, long story short; he places in spaces. Little spaces at a time, but you know what, he dominates those spaces on both ends of the court. Incredible.

He's not playing like a 40yr old....Ha Ha Ha.

For real you could argue he's been as valuable as anyone on the team thus far.

He is the MVP of the team. He is invaluable.

Everyone is valuable. Everyone has a role. That's what's great about the Knicks this season.

Look back at what I stated during the end of the first quarter in regards to Kidd, to what then happened (continued to happen) during the game; until the final sound. 14 clutch points. Came alive with pure focus during the 4th quarter. 3 hustle blocks, 2 defensive steals along with another 2 assists. Box score aside, Kidd came through during the clutch tonight. On the road against a true NBA contending Spurs team. 4/6 from beyond the arc tonight.

As a fan base, we're currently witnessing H.O.F greatness. First hand too. New York Knick fans enjoying one of the greatest NBA players of all time? A living legend in Jason Kidd? An NBA Warrior?

We're back. We've arrived. Basketball is back in the Mecca.

I still think Knicks would have gone 6-0 with Lin as a PG.

Knicks are just so much better now.

False. I don't care about your hate for Lin but his TO is the league average for a PG this season thus far. I'm just saying that Knicks are such a tight unit that it wouldn't matter if Lin or Kidd was part of it or not.

Woodson show great potential last season.

I believe you're wrong. Kidd has been a second head coach out there. The confidence he gives out players, the I.Q he's shared with us. He's the reason why we're leading the league in turnover differential. The defensive ability that Kidd has played with has also been an underrated topic of discussion. Kidd was clutch as clutch could be tonight, and without Kidd, we don't win this game. There is no guarantee that Lin wouldn't have fell flat on his face against Parker and the Spurs (on the road) tonight.
