I know it's only been 2 games but Melo looks like a different player already. He's playing hard on D, crashing the boards and after a shaky shooting performance against the Heat, he looked much better yesterday against the Sixers. He looks slimmer and a bit quicker to me.

I'm expecting a career year from Melo this year and am happy with with I've seen thus far. I hope he continues to bring it like this every night. While watching the game yesterday Breen mentioned that Chandler stated that Melo is locked in on the court, in practice, during film sessions and that he's being more vocal.

I love the hard play but almost lost my breakfast when Melo jumped into the stands for the loose ball.

I know it's early and 2 games does not make a season but I truly hope that this Melo is the Melo we have as our man for the rest of his career. We'll go as far as he will take us.

GO KNICKS!!!!!!!!!!!

With some players, a time comes where things just click with them. They go from playing exciting basketball to championship basketball. Let's hope our team is on their way to playing championship ball. Seems like everyone is totally locked in. Haven't seen any Knick team so dedicated to a system since the Van Gundy era and before that the Riley era, of course. If this focused team shows up every night, sky's the limit.

Carmelo is back on track.

This is the Melo from 2009 that took the Nuggets to the WCF.

This the Melo from 2010 before his coach got cancer and the Nugs spiraled from the second best record in the West to a first round exit to the Jazz.

Then you had the trade after 54 games and the lockout shortened season.

He is finally back on track with a team that supports each other.

I like what he is doing but I think he still needs to pass the ball more...I also think he is being a little over zealous trying to make the defensive plays diving into the stands..Please Melo we need you, don't get hurt...It's a lot easier to share the ball and get the results we have been seeing, than to have to put it all on his shoulders..He will be fresher at the end of the year...

This is the Melo that i expected. He is the player you can build around and can take the game over. With the right role players (which for the most part we have) this team can go a long ways.

Sorry, dive in the stands is what leaders do. If your best player is willing to put it out there the rest will follow suit!

Diva Melo don't dive.

We can't have it both ways. Jordan dove, Bird dove as do all the greats.

Great two game sample and perhaps shows the continued maturation of him. When a team gives you the money and the keys to the franchise this is how a star is suppose to lead.

Leadership is earned on the court and not implied in the media.

My hope for Melo had always been to follow the Paul Pierce trajectory.

Minus the stabbing incidents.

I really don't buy into all that diving stuff..Most of it is for show, so the people paying money think u are working hard..Meanwhile, he could get hurt in the process...Do it when it matters..Game two of a 82 game season when your other star, Amare is out injured, I could live without it..I wasn't the only one holding my breath...U don't have to prove u want to win that way to me...Hit the open man...

Melo can't win.

He smiles too much.

He dives, but he might get hurt.

He plays hard on D, but he doesn't pass enough.

He's in shape, but he's not cut.

We win a few games, and he's still a loser until proven otherwise. Or if he possibly forces a trade to Brooklin.

This small sample size would be enough for the half-full posse here to be calling for his head in a bag if we had lost both.

Mr Anthony

"Let's talk about the individuals, shall we? Carmelo Anthony was terrific. Better than he was against the Heat, I thought. We didn't witness the same torrent of scoring we saw in Friday's first quarter, but rather a steady, varied game's worth of production with fewer set-busting jaunts into chuckery. On most possessions, he'd set up on either side within 16 feet or so, accept the ball and either challenge Thaddeus Young one-on-one or, if the Sixers sent help (which they did often and indiscriminately), kick back to the perimeter. Melo recognized that Young couldn't handle him on the move and identified when the Sixers couldn't afford to help off a shooter or cutter (props to Woodson for arranging those scenarios), and exploited all that by dancing past Young for some lovely finishes and drawn fouls." - Seth Rosenthal

holfresh - you think Oakley dived for show?

Please don't compare Melo to Oakley.

It's sacrilegious to some on here and will clearly violate the separation of church and state.

jrodmc - please compare selective perception to the factorialism that Carmelo under Mike Woodson is new and improved.

Carmelo simply feels more genuine this season. His smile is less forced. He seems comfortable in his role. His body language is more engaged with his teammates and his head is up. Perception is everything.

Just win baby

That's was Oak's job...How about if Patrick started diving into the stands???

He cant win with some of these people

He's been phenomenal aside from the 10/28 night vs Miami- got fouled a lot but still was a monster and his missing his FT's vs Philly

Keep it up Carmelo

Melo's bad habits usually surface when he doesn't feel like he can trust his teammates to do their part to get the job done. With the new additions to the squad (and more on the way) I believe we will see Melo being a better teammate this season.

Melo in most games is a willing passer in the first half, despite what some writers say. Its in the second half that Melo sometimes tries to do too much. Now that there is more talent around him, veteran talent, I believe we will see less of that this season.

Like any other player the question is..."Is this sustainable?" In 1-2 months, when fatigue starts kicking in, will Melo still make the right plays or does he take the easier shots? Will Melo still play very good defense or will he regress? That is why being in great shape is key. The superstars that are great defenders like Kobe, LeDouche, Wade..they are all in great shape. I don't know if Melo is in great shape, he has a different body type so it is hard to judge. Only time will tell. The only freak I know that played balls out every time and was pudgy was Charles Barkley.

I like Melo through the first two games and I have not been his biggest fan/supporter but I try to call it like I see it. I agree with Holfresh (for once ) that he needs to pass the ball more but at least he is passing it more than in times past. Melo attracts so much attention, if he could use that to INTENTIONALLY set up teammates, I think his game goes to a higher level.

What I liked a lot is the affect that Kidd is having on Melo. There was a play last night when Melo wanted the ball but Kidd wouldn't give it to him, he waiting and then hit a wide open player cutting, right under the basket. I think Kidd is going to really raise Melo's game. Intelligence just rubs off.

I've said this before, Melo has too much talent to be wasted with his selfish play. We saw him changing away from that play during a stretch last year. But, it is tough to go away from what you have done your whole life. But winning will slowly do that to you (as well as playing with other veterans - like on the Olympic team and now!). However, I don't think it is just a clicking or moment when it happens. Probably he will take a few steps back but hopefully, eventually, keep going forward and then it will it him for good.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. Albert Einstein
