i believe we did not have to give lampe up, it was a money based deal. we appeased them with lampe IMHO--he couldve held lampe out of the deal and it wouldve went down.
thats like someone saying no im not going to relieve myself of 150mm$ in debt so I have aharder time selling my team for a 2nd round draft pick that we were so high on we skipped him at 27.
its a dumb question and i dont have to be privvy to inside information to figure that one out. If Isiah said no lampe--that deal gets done anyway. we gave them lampe to get rid of anything laydumb.
you can agree or disagree but this deal was 100% based on economics and that lampe was a pee-onn throw in that we should've[there is that word again] devloped on our own. No need to write stuff that this deal wouldnt have gotten done without lampe or your not privvy to information--it doesnt take a genious to know this was ALL money to Pheonix. they promptly turned around and sold the draft picks for a few MM more
Colangelo: "Isiah, you have 2 minutes to decide or there is no deal. Through in Lampe and you get Marbury and Penny for Dice, Eisely, Ward and Milos. I got Jerry West on the other line and he is frothing at the mouth."
You KNOW this kind of conversation happened and Isiah's boxers got twisted so fast he HAD to make the deal. The guy was in the office for 1 minute and he NEEDED to make the deal and he certainly was in a tight spot.
But lets put this in perspective: Marbury, Penny, Trybanski for Dice, Eisely, Ward, 2 second rounders and a first rounder. When you look at it that way it's much better.
BRIGGS, How about this: would you give up Anderson, Deke, Harrington, the next 2 consecutive second rounders, 2005 first rounder for say Pierce? Yes you would, over and over again.
