He was interviewed during a knicks practice on NBA TV.

Asked:

"many fans are upset about Jeremy Lin and the knicks not bringing him back. What can you tell us?"

GG:

"I hope Jeremy does well in Houston, we are happy with Felton, Kidd and Prigioni"

YAWN!

Why are they so effin scared to talk about it?

We know why we didn't match the offer, what do you want him to say that will make everything okay?

It would be nice if they were actually honest, but do you really expect our GM to say "Dolan got butt-hurt about something Lin's agent did to get more money, and ordered me not to match out of spite"?

there's nothing he can say. he is just another lackey with a mediocre core... that's the best dolan can do given his own incompetence and paranoia.

and of course this trickles down to coaching and players, as it must.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Grunny, here yah go:

"We enjoyed what was called LInsanity last year and was quite thrilled to be a part of it. We thought Jeremy has a great deal of potential and was looking forward to him be a part of the knicks for many years. The sad truth is in todays CBA we could not match the offer because of implications down the road that could be problematic to futre roster flexibility. We loved his potential but in some situations you can pay if you feel it can take you over the top, and maybe Lin has that kind of potential but we just felt at a certain price we thought it best to go in another direction. We look forward to seeing Jeremey in the future and wish him the best of luck!"

No so hard is it? Tell the truth and not try to be a bytch about it.

So the moral of the story is, Grunwald had nothing to say, there was nothing to say, and if he did say anything it would be a Dolan-based lie.

Check.

Go Knicks!

I will neither defend nor acuse Grunwald of anything. He could not say that the salary cap implications would be too much to handle because that never bothered the knx before and he wasn't going to knock Lin so what could he say-that it would hurt flexibility in the last year???. Lin did well for the team but what is his ceiling and at what cost. I think the pg core we have now is greater than Lin plus x given we dont know what Lin is or can be with league cognizant of his abilities or who x would have been.

I can't wait for December 17th. Either we'll never hear the end to it, if Lin has a good game and Rockets win, or he'll tank, and the lovers will finally take a hike.

the moral is that Nalod brought the meat but, unfortunately you vegi-heads refuse to eat and be enlightened. Everything Nalod wrote I also heard Grunny say.

This is not the time for reporters to be asking him about Lin, this is training camp and the questions should be about the players on the floor.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

The Lin thing is over on many levels.
Of course the reality is he is Rocket and has nothing to do with NY any more.
But more importantly the fairytale is over too, so fans are back to boring Dolan-land.
The autocracies are always boring as hell because they are predictable.
With the team we have we know exactly what will happen.
I guess stability is good for business. Or is it?

Well obviously i want the knicks to win every game. However i still dont see why its a problem if some of our fans still like former players like gallo and lin

It's a decent answer, but... maybe there are legal implications. I mean, right around the time Houston changed the offer, the Knicks were in the thick of trading away our entire deep bench for Camby (a Rockets RFA). We don't know if there were any off-the-record conversations around Lin.

Or maybe Dolan was really truly upset about being outwitted.

or

Maybe the team legitimately didn't think he had the upside/was worth the risk of such a huge contract.

Regardless, watching the combo of Felton/Prigioni/Kidd has made me realize the level of polish we lacked at PG last season, either due to inexperience or lack of physical ability(Bibby/Baron).

Compared to what we've seen so far in pre-season, Lin is much more Allen Iverson in his approach (keep the dribble... draw the D, then pass or lose the D then shoot) than how our current 3 headed monster thinks.
