I think Melo gets too much blame. I mean the last 2 postseasons he has played with a depleted roster. Amare was hurt both years and we were missing our starting point guard. I have a feeling this year will be his best year and hopefully we will bring home a title. Lets Go Knicks!!!

I agree, Melo does take too much of the blame around here. He's, by far, the best player we've had since trading Ewing. To me, the problem is the team put in place around him. In order to take full advantage of Melo's immense talents we need to put shooters all over the place so teams get punished when they double and triple team him. The ideal lineup with Melo would be Tyson at 5, Melo at 4/3, and shooters at the 3/4, 2, and 1 spot. Instead we have one shooter on the whole team in Novak and guys who can't shoot at all starting at the guard positions.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

If we win, he'll get credit.

Why does he need a break?

Melo got hyped to impossible levels and its the supporting team that lacks more than he does.

The trade depleted the roster and its why we were short talent and injury prone.

When does he get a "break"?

He gets the star treatment and 20mm to play. That expectation is a high price to pay.

He will NEVER ever get the credit from some on this board. If they go deep in the playoffs it will be "yeah he got out of the first round but he couldnt carry us all the way" & if they get to the Finals it will be "But he didnt win...he's not Kobe or LeBron" and even if he manages to defeat all odds and bring a "Chip" to NYC some (who shall remain nameless) will be screaming "Well...he cant deliver two like Clyde & Pearl did".
I wish this was a tweet so I could hashtag it as #hatersgonnahate

Melo doesn't need and certainly isn't concerned about what this board thinks of him.

But I'm sure he knows "win in NY and you are a god".

Even the naysayers on here will just be quiet at the least or acknowledge at the most.

They are Knicks fans after all, at least i hope.

I'm pretty sure if Melo led the Knicks to their first championship in over 40yrs he would be king problem is he won't. Knicks as a team are not good enough to go all the way

I don't hear Melo complaining about a thing.

Lovers think if we support them they do better?

Does anything talked about here really matter to the teams performance?

Knicks are a product that provides entertainment programming for its parent MSG.

Giving two shyts and Phuch about its fan other than providing quality programming is beyond its description.

As long as the teams succeeds to provide "winning" product and celebs arrive then fans want to be in the same building as them. If the team succeeds in being in the playoffs it makes a ton of money.

If you build a busines model around championships then you'll fail most of the time. Raise expectations too high and you fail.

Not sure what the issue is.
When he will be great playing for NY he will get recognized as great player.
Win of not, chip or not, it is about how he will play, if he will put his heart and sole into the game, give it all on the court.
This is easy to see.
So far it was not too much of that from Melo but it is all in his own hands.

Like Ewing, he will never catch a break here in NY. People in other cities appreciate Melo, tho. I remember back in the Ewing era I would see more Starks, Oak and Mase jerseys around the NY area than Ewing. Asked who is their favorite Knick, people rarely said Ewing. Same goes for today. You'd think Carmelo Anthony was a scrub let some people tell it. A friend of mine from Jersey asked me recently "Why do Knick fans always treat their stars and best players like ****?". That about sums it up.

Ewing was one of the greats of all time. Melo is not in his group and will never be... unless of some miraculos transformation.
Pat was a Warrior, Melo is a cool talented celeb. There was and are a sh..t load of Melo-type guys in NBA. Ewing defined an era in NY bbal.

Yet Ewing himself said he never had a player as talented as Melo to play with.

I agree that Melo isn't the warrior Pat was or in his class. I disagree about the statement that there are a lot of Melo type guys in the nba. Hopefully Melo is continuing to evolve.

Melo is an unbelieveable talent who is treated very similar to Ewing, underappreciated. He is our best player since Ewing was in his prime (up until about 1996.) He can absolutely go down as one of the greatest Knicks of all time if he can put together a few good playoff runs and maybe even a championship. I think this is the year he really can be judged fairly. The first year and a half he couldn't be.

Melo will get credit if the Knicks win just like Lebron. It's always the case that winning takes care of everything. He's the best player on the team and if he plays well and the team wins then he'll be put on high like other top players have. Dirk had to win in order to get the monkey off his back. This is a good team to win with in that it's built to defend at a high level. If the Knicks as a team can support Melo with great defense then there's a good chance they'll win big. It just makes things easier.

8 out of the 10 people who claim that "Ewing was a warrior" on this site, were the same people in the 90s who were shouting "Ewing SUCKS" every time he didnt score 30 & grab 15rbs and still refer to him as "ringless".
Face it, New Yorkers are by & large basically frustrated a-holes who never appreciate what they have until it's gone & no amount of circle jerking about the supposed good ole days where we just barely lost to the bulls because C Smith didnt dunk the ball or Starks' 2-18 is going to change our citywide hater attitude.

It's the same thing with Giants fans. Nowadays, after two Superbowl wins, you can't find anyone who'll admit that they were calling for him to be benched even as early as his second year. Also, you won't find any Mets fans who booed Piazza his last few years in NY. I don't know what it is about New Yorkers that make so many hate the best player on the team but there it is. For the record, I never hated Ewing or Piazza and the only time I really turned on Eli is after the loss to the Vikings the year he won his first Superbowl but I got over it and went back to defending him a week later.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come
