including "infinitilov100"

Nets are relevant to many knick conversations. Have been for years. Same division and now same city. Anytime both teams are good there will be conversation.

Them moving to Brooklyn is big news for NY Basketball. Maybe as you say are not a fan of NY Basketball but many of us are.

We talk about all the teams we will play. We talked about Miami and Lebron a lot over the years.

WE compare the kNicks to other teams, other coach's, other owners.

Historically we can even discuss other views.

We are polite and threads continue when there is interest to discuss a topic.

It it not up to any individual to determine what is discussed unless the moderator deems it inappropriate which they seem to based it on some socially unacceptable behavior not conducive to reasonable conversation. Generally there are racial lines we don't cross or do we engage in name calling except for Bonn but that was a long time ago. Times have changed. Once upon a time "GayRobot" was funny. Now its not.

If there is a conversation about the Nets you are not bound by any means to participate. If nobody wishes to discuss the topic it just dies. Its sort of a democracy where demand drives the topics.

I think its a very fair system. A system that requires participation for it to continue.

Trolls come and go or get banned when they try to hijack this place. 10 years running and thats how its gone. Not my rules mind you. I can choose to adhere to the rules or not. If not, I can be banned. Lots of posters have been banned as they choose not to fall in to the norm of what happens here. Years ago I was asked to adhere or be asked to leave. It was my choice to stay.

Since "OBM" you have asked to be let in again I assume you wish to participate. If you don't like the way this place is run then take it up with the moderator. If you wish to challange every thread with how the rules should be I would imagine you'll not find the conversation to your liking and maybe this is not the place for you.

Its been a place to welcome conversation of all types and when its not a conversation you agree with or wish to participate just ignore it.

Isn't that fair?

As for me, I have followed and been a fan for 41 years. I watch many games and support them. I can also be critical of them and not agree with every move. Thats my prerogative. I try to back it up with either facts for some reasonable basis. If not I'll get called out on it. I also was a Net fan of the ABA and from Brooklyn. I think I will like the Nets and will follow them to a lessor degree. Thats my choice. I have yet to contribute to any net sites and don't really plan on it. I also to got Charlotte Bobcat games over the years and when they are not playing the Knicks I root for them to win. I like Pro basketball. Some Knick fans are not fans of the progame but love the knicks and only the knicks. I like to watch basketball. I think it makes me fairly knowledgeable and maybe objective beyond the knicks.

I can see how it would be annoying to this place if one were to show love for the nets. I respect greatly some other teams and how they are run. Many have posters have discussed how SA and the Lakers have done well over the years.

The Nets have done a respectful job to leave New Jersey for Brooklyn, build a nice new arena and construct a roster by a new owner willing to also pay taxes for it.

Objectivity and respect for others is not Hate on the home team!

Choose how you want to follow your orange and blue and I doubt anyone will object but if you constantly badger objectivity or respect for other teams you'll find yourself banned again or others will leave because its not a pleasant place to discuss knicks and the NBA.

Thats not my call BTW, but its why I exist here after 8 plus years. My opinions are not more important than any others. They might be superior at times, and others they might suck. When they do I can also LEARN FROM OTHERS!

could not disagree more. Even when the Nets got their butts kicked in consecutive Finals, you could walk up to the stadium on the day of the game and buy seats

There is a difference between respecting the Nets and using them as an example to explain what is wrong with the Knicks. Both are acceptable for discussion on this board, however the latter will certainly evoke some strong arguments against the poster who makes claims that the Nets are better etc.....after all, this is a Knicks board.

Net love is one thing. Most conversations have been about their roster additions and if it will work.

We discussed the Heat signing lebron at length. Why should Nets moves be differnt?

What does ticket sales to finals 10 years ago have anything to do with today?

We talked about the Celtics when they got KG and Ray.

We play them 4 times and Nets with new ownership is clearly making a move for the Knicks.

I hate the Celtics, but we talk about them? I hate the Heat, but we talk about them.

Nobody is saying "like/love the Nets".

its a knick site for sure, and Im not advocating we give them any love.

You can hate the Nets as you would any team, but we talk about them all when they are newsworthy.

And in division rivals are all relevant. Im sure we'll wake up and notice the Wiz have made some nice moves.

Do we: "wiz cut Blatche, anyone think it was a good move?"

Do we respond: "Its a knick site, why talk about them?"

DOn't like the nets, Thats fair. Always has been just like any other team.

But how many other teams just moved into a borough? How many in division rivals just went up to third highest payroll and eclipsed the knicks in spending?

If you don't think it works, thats fair. State why? But if you say "Nets suck, Meadowlands sucks, Ratner sucks, nobody cares about when they went to finals" I can challange to ask why would the past be the same going forward given the logistics of what that franchised changed?

and if one desires to discuss it then fine. If not, the crickets chirp and the topic goes away. But to rudely proclaim that "only knick topics will be discussed here if it only relates to the positive support of the knicks will be tolerated" is not cool in my book and breaks the spirit of the UK.

And if the UK changes going forward because thats how the participants choose then so be it I suppose. Many have come and gone before also.

Thats kind of what I am saying. Net fans should not come here and argue who is better. Thats what the games are for.

In time it all gets sorted out on the court!

Im not seeing much claim by a knick poster that the Nets are better. have you?

my opinion is......Piss off, the Nets are utterly irrelevant to me and my love of the Knicks. Talk about them elsewhere. If you're a Nets fan, good on you, go find a Nets fan forum.

If this were a "New York basketball" board then it would all make sense. We could then talk about St Johns all day and maybe even Cuse or whoever else falls under the ny basketball umbrella. No matter how you slice it, this is a Knicks board. Period. Anything more than a sentence or two dedicated to other teams in order to make a point will be pushing it. A thread here and there about another team as it pertains to the Knicks....fine. But daily conversation and entire threads dedicated to another team on a constant basis (no matter who that team is) makes zero sense on a Knicks board. Just reality.

I think what my problem is with some of the Net talk, is that I suspect some fans are hedging their bets. I think they'll start off stating a mild interest in the Nets, and when the new season comes, if the Knicks stink it up and the Nets do well, these same people will jump ship- I just feel that people are just laying the ground work for a full switch with the 'nets are great' talk.

I don't think this Knicks fan site should be assisting that. I can't stand Deron Williams, Lopez or the Kardashian. The Nets anti-Knick 'come join us' stuff has also been hacking me off.

For me it's like saying you're a Clipper and Laker fan, or even a Knicks and Heat fan. Rivals are rivals.

Of course you can support both teams, it's your own personal choice, but this is not a Nets board and I don't think we should be supporting people to jump ship- why not post about them in the other Nba topic forum on this site?
