Lakers would love to land Dwight but refuse to take on the bloated contracts of turkeyglue, jrich & Qrich that Orlando is trying to unload. If it were Dolan not only would hetake on the ridiculous contracts but he would include 2 first round pick and 2 second round picks. One organization knows what they are doing the one on the opposite coast is CLUMSY

Lakers and Spurs are very well run. They rarely trade away picks or take on bad contracts, and never act out of desperation.

If we traded 2 number 1's and 2 number 2's for steve nash, the angry minions on this board would have had a field day

Only reason Dwight Howard isn't a Laker is possibly because of those 4 draft picks the Lakers shipped out for Nash. If the Nash trade backfires or proves ringless, it could be considered a terrible move no?

16 championships. Enough said.

After this happened...

... you had to know they were going to reload.

Lakers are a point guard away from getting back to the finals. Knicks not as close. Still have to get past Miami & Boston. Lakers can get past OKC knicks are a longshot

Adding a 39yr old pg to a 7th seed team in the east is different and the lakers didnt take on bad comtracts

How is adding Nash going to help them guard Westbrook, Durant, Harden, Ubaka, etc.....

They problem wasn't scoring....

Now if they had a player that can not only run the point and hit open 3's, but also guard Lebron in the paint? Now you talking championship (Jason Kidd)

Still they gave up nothing for Nash. This topic is about the Lakers refusal to take on bloated contracts for one player. And what Dolan would give up for that same one player in a ny minute

4 draft picks(2 first round, 2 second round) is alot no? What if they struggle somehow and would've ended up with a decent draft pick in the next couple years? What if Bynum blows his knees again or Kobe's age catches up to him. Pau turns into charmin in time for the playoffs. Huge gamble, hardly say it's nothing.

For Howard I see. Don't think there was a Knick offer, so that's pretty hypothetical the Knicks would take on those contracts.

For Nash to Knicks, it was a pretty reasonable sign and trade offer:

Nash would receive a three-year contract in the $25 million range while Phoenix would receive Shumpert and a handful of cap-friendly contracts such as Toney Douglas, Josh Harrellson and Jerome Jordan.

Don't see any bad contract taking in there, just Shumpert and some expirings by the Knicks.

P.S. 3 year/$25mill for Nash is a steal compared to you know who
