Do you really think that Lin will bring top tier players to Houston or is the owner drinking some bad cool-aid? Lin shined when he was the main guy. If a big go to player comes in I would thing that things may change. Plus Houston is using Lin and really don't care about his skill set becase he really don't know what Lin's skill set was. The reason why he didn't get drafted was becase he was a me first on a not so good college team.

Rockets' owner Leslie Alexander expects Jeremy Lin to aid in Houston’s effort to land a top free agent.

“I love it,” Alexander said of the Lin signing. “I think it’s great for the city of Houston. It’s great for the fans. I think a team needs to have that attention to attract free agents and do what we have to do to win. It helps. It always helps (the business), but the real reason is it helps to attract free agents. They’ll want to play with Jeremy, but also they want to be someplace they will be on TV, they can market themselves, all that stuff.”

Alexander believes Lin will fit nicely into the Rockets’ offense.

“I think he’s going to be a great addition for the team,” Alexander said. “I think he’s going to be a great player in the league – very good to great.

“It was very risky and very hard to do. It worked out in our favor, thank God. We changed the team completely from last year. It’s almost a whole new team. You can see in summer league how good the young guys are. I think the future is really, really good.”

If he's plays like the secong coming of Nash than sure. If he simply plays like a solid PG than no as the entire league is made of solid PG's.

lin was never much of a pass-first pg.. how many guys are gonna want to goto houston and play with a pg who doesn't pass the ball?

he's a great playmaker. He's humble. He deflects all credit to his teammates and owns all criticism. Why would anyone want to play with a guy like that?

It will attract FA's for sure.

Ny4evr - you need to check the video and box scores, he was a great passer. Better pg than anyone on our team right now, though not sure about the foreign guy. Kidd is great in limited minutes.

yeah the boxscores will tell me everything. if you looked at the boxscores you would think antoine walker or antawn jamison were the second comings of michael jordan.

jamison is probably the worst 20/10 player that has literally ever existed. those stats are so ****ing hollow you can practically see through them.

He's old enough to have won two rings as Rockets owner, which is two more than the Knicks have won in the past 38 years.

The only possibility i see is if they can pull Yao Ming out of retirement. That might have been there plan all along.

Rockets have a good young team. Mock away. In 4 years they'll be in a much better position to contend than the Knicks. And it's not like the Knicks will be truly contending over the next 3.

perhaps. they have good young talent they seem interested in developing instead of giving away for free though. ask briggs about their draft, it was solid. cap room and a good young team. knicks are capped out for 3yrs with one of the oldest rosters in the league. i'm hoping for the best, but i just don't see it. i think they'll be good, like 5th seed or so. but that just means a date with the heat in the second round. and this year is prob their best shot, they're only gonna get older.

I take a different angle on the age of the Knicks' roster: I focus on the starters, who are not old by any means, and in fact I would say all of them are in their primes (depending on who you pick as starters). Their bench is definitely old, but those (main) guys all started on their respective teams and were legitimate starters who will now be going against second line guys.

Felton, JR, Melo, Amare, Chandler. All between 26-29. Their bench will be Kidd, Camby, Novak, White, Kurt and SG to be named later. Kidd and Camby started for their respective teams last year.

Chandler and Kidd started and were key kogs on a championship team 2 years ago; Kidd probably has lost some but not a whole bunch and now his role is redefined.

Check out Boston: Garnett will be 37, Peirce will be 35. Both are starters. Jason Terry will be 35. Bradley is a nice young prospect but just had shoulder surgery again. Rondo and Bass are nice young guys.

Who are the other 4 teams that will be better than the Knicks next year?

I think Miami, Boston, Indiana, Chicago will all be better than the Knicks. I would love it if the Knicks could finally dethrone Boston for the division crown, but Boston added a lot of young talent via the draft and Courtney Lee and Jason Terry are great FA grabs, plus Jeff Green is back.

I am not mocking their roster. I Like their roster also but they are definitely rebuilding. I think Alexander thinking that big name free agents are going to go to Houston because they want to play with Lin is quite a stretch. I Like Lin a lot, loved him as a knick, was dying to see him get on the court after they signed him, watched the videos of the bay hawks game and his summer league games. I was all in before his breakout game. But at this point I don't see him attracting big name free agents.

Good points but it is not always about age. Amare is 29 but he has a lot of mileage and has had a number of serious surgeries. Tyson has also played many years and has been quite injury prone.

Often, I have more confidence in the sustainability of a 35 y/o if he has always been healthy. Amare vs Garnett, being that Amare is younger, will he be healthier? Last longer? Hard to say.

I don't think that many knowledgeable basketball people this that Amare has at most more than a couple of healthy and viable years left in his tank.

All that aside, for this coming year, Miami is better obviously but the Knicks are 2 or 3 with Boston. Boston still may have the edge since they had a really good off season and Rondo destroys us.

Rockets' owner Leslie Alexander expects Jeremy Lin to aid in Houston’s effort to land a top free agent. Really?think so?
