I don't think we are getting Chris Paul either.

I don't want to explain it because I don't know how, but my gut feeling is telling me that's not gonna happen. There will be a lot of speculations, but won't happen.

I don't understand how we could get Chris Paul if we can't match Lin for $5M per for 2 and $25M total.

Paul is going to be another $100M addition. Impossible from a trade stand point with assets & cap reasons.

Only thing the Knicks are going to is the next 50 year old PG.

We can't get Chris Paul. We have no money for the contract he's going to want as a FA if he gets there and we can't do a sign and trade either.

The scenario is Chris Paul forces a trade by declaring that he will not sign an extension with the Clips and demands to come to NYC. Then Amare's contract matches up with CP3's so you ship Amare for Chris Paul. So Clips get Amare is better than nothing when CP3 is a free agent.

They got Blake Griffin.. why would they want Amar'e and his fat contract?

Lol..what do you mean you don't know how to explain it? Unless we're trading Carmelo, it's not possible to get Chris Paul. We have nobody else to trade for him and no money to sign him outright. We also cannot do a sign and trade next summer so any trade would have to be done by the trade deadline.

People will come up with their own scenarios and I have no time to argue with non-legit trade talks. So many ppl here are talking about CP3 next year. Even media talks about it as if there's a way to do that, and I'm just assuming maybe they know something I don't know. That's what I meant 'I don't know how to explain it..' I was just being nice and not being confrontational to idiots thinking there's a way to get Chris Paul. I can explain it, but then some idiot will try to counter it and then gets messy.

Chris Who?

Prigioni is the ultimate pass-first playmaker, a master of the pick and roll play. His virtuosity pairing with Luis Scola reminds us of the likes of Nash & Stoudemire or even Stockton & Malone. Indeed the team orchestrates its offensive game almost always starting from picks in the high post. He’s the engine that makes Tau run, a necessity for a team that is becoming dangerously dependant on him. In the final, he set a new record of assists in the competition, with 15 dimes. His court vision, while excellent, perhaps is not off the charts, but he’s incredibly smart and shows an awesome basketball IQ leading his team and a privileged quick mind.

That quick mind is seeding the terror on the rival point guards, victims of his hunger for steals. It’s rare the game that Prigioni doesn’t come away with a steal from an inbound pass after a basket. Everybody knows it already, but it keeps happening.

Didn't we fail to sign Lin, who could have been a key asset in a trade?

Papabear Says

We Sign CP3 For 5 years 7 million the 1st year and 7 the second year 16 million the third 18 the 4th and 20 the 5th year.
on the third year Melo can opt out and resign for 13 million a year and so can Amare ajust his contract lower that 3rd year. It all depends on how bad they want CP3

We're obviously just going to resign Lin in three years.. This way he gets to work the kinks out of his game, and will be ripe for picking come 2015.

Amare and Saint Carmelo are not taking less money. You can put that pipe dream to bed from now.

We also aren't signing Chris Paul to a contract that starts at $7 million. You don't know how contracts work. A contract doesn't just jump like that from one year to the next. The only time this is possible is during restricted free agency and the "poison pill". And even then, there's a limit of how much you can offer. Even if it were in any way possible, Chris Paul is never taking $7 million in any year to play here. Maybe when he's 38 years old. Until then, JamesKPolk says that you're best focused on playing up other more realistic fantasies.

I already explained it. If CP3 says he will only sign a new contract with the Knicks then he basically forces a trade to New York.
Clippers can either get nothing for CP3 when his contract is up or get something (Amare).

Donald Sterling would rather lose CP3 for nothing than trade for a large terrible contract.
