The Era of Hope is ended.
All questions are answered and all point are set.
Want to say thanks from the bottom of my heart to the players, coaches, and executives who were committed to all I like in pro Sports.
Team game, hard work, good character, camaraderie with the fans and each other.
This things made a winner.
Even Heat with bid 3 has much more of that that Knicks of new Era of Grid and Selfishness which starts now.

At least we traded gallo/chandler for an allstar. We let go of Lin for literally nothing

Personallly I hoped that era would end for the better part of 4 years. My issue was mainly with the coach but in hindsight a lot of the moves Walsh made were not good ones in my opinion. The summer of 2010 was a unique situation but the Knicks spent two years going into every negotiation with the another team with that team knowing how desperate they were and what their plan was. Things seemed pretty hopeless at times this year despite the big three. This team has been built as a vet team trying to compete for the playoffs. After the dust settled Grunwald had to cobble together a team with few assets. I think he has done a great job and I don't miss long losing streaks.

we had one of the youngest teams in the NBA, added Amare and were playoff bound with max cap space. We dumped it all for Melo a proven first round and done star with Marbury maturity.

We have one young drafted player in Shump whom we tried to trade for Nash anyway.

Funny thing is the Knicks will be solid next year. Woody will get them to defend enough to go 50-32 and a 3rd or 4th seed. Then his iso-joe offense he rode all year will have the same results it did in Atl and Melo has every post season. Maybe we win a round.. that would be something special.

Didnt Melo make it to the WCF?

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

sure did... I guess that offsets the 8? 9? first round exits where his teams were never even competitive?

Hey... the one year he advanced Nuggets had JR, Camby, KMart, Billups... looks like rebuilding that magical season is the goal.

Noticed Dan D'Antni wasn't on the thread title. Not sure why or what is going on with him. Is he taking the year off to watch Mike's son play ball his senior year?

this.. and thats the problem. Wouldnt it be interesting to know what happens if we kept that young team together? Or let Linsanity ride out (but Melo killed it).

I never saw any player long enough to get attached, just more of the typical player shuffle.

The only thing I miss is Walsh was a class guy with a plan. Obviously he was run out of town also. Grunwald has brought in old guys for a coach that likes old guys. Its Isiah's cronies

Very delusional. They yearn for the ERA of no defense and no chance at anything.Easier to deal with failure when U know going in U dont have the horses to compete. This team is far better then any Dantoni era team

Yes and lost to the Lakers who won it all. Two of the other ousters were to the eventual Championship Spurs. One came to the Lakers who did go to the Finals to lose to the Celtics. The loses to the Clips and Wolves are not to be dismissed, but the draws aren't to be dismissed and lost series (like winning series) are never on one man...that takes a team AND coaching staff.

Actually, it has been 7 total, and, again, it's not one man. You don't have to like Melo as I assume you never will, but get off the idea that he's been the problem with his teams. Unlike Ewing who had a relatively consistent core with Oak and Starks during his peak years and solid starters and role players, Melo (while clearly no Ewing) has had a revolving door of players with no say in who stays or goes, many on their way out or consistently injured.

As for Lin, we'll never know, but it's just as likely that he wanted to leave NY as anything else. That he wasn't forcing their hand for the best salary, but that he wanted to go to Houston. And while he could be honest about it, it would be a marketing disaster. So no matter how much he thanks and praises the Knicks, we'll never know his true motivations.

The funny thing is, if the trade for Melo doesn't happen, Lin never gets a chance with the Knicks. They would have either kept Felton or tried to woo the Pauls and Williamses for the point. Additionally, it took injuries for him to even get any run. If not for the way too big gutting for Melo and some bumps and bruises no one ever remembers Lin in a few years.

As for the chemistry between Lin and Melo and Stat...how many games did these guys get to play together before Lin got hurt. Lin is a massive question mark that we'll never know the answer to. I hope he does well, but I don't think he was particularly passionate about staying in NY and sure as hell don't care about the fortunes of the Rockets.
