...just that- HYPE?

Hear me out on this for a minute...

I thought about this a bit after Melo is quoted as saying that "With Jeremy, I know he definitely wants to be back in New York & Dolan definitely wants him back."...

If that is indeed the case, then maybe...

...just Maybe...

...this has been a ruse all along. Look at all of the buzz this has created. Look at how people are expressing how much they want Lin to stay, even with that "absurd" poison pill contract.

For all we know, The Knicks and Lin are already cool on this deal, and they've used this issue to get the Linsanity hype train rolling again. If it was cooled off before, it's already hot as fire now.

Also, after the Nets were all over the news the past 2 weeks, notice that besides some empty tough talk that Tyson Chandler already dismissed as "foolish", they've been virtually off the radar.

How much would this much press cost, had Dolan paid for this much promotion? This "Will the Knicks Match Lin's Backloaded $25M Offer Sheet?" drama is national news, and everyone, even those who aren't Knicks and/or Lin fans, are talking about it.

All they've done was to just sit back and let it all snowball. Notice that Lin and Knicks brass have been silent, while the sports media spins this story into the stratosphere?

Remember when the false story came out about Lin being "mad" at the Knicks? How fast did Jeremy tweet the response to diffuse that drama? He hasn't said much at all since.

It's just a thought, and I first pondered on this after seeing that just about ALL of the sports/NBA pages were lit up with this story as the main headline.

It's naturally building up to the cliffhanger, that comes tonight. If, at the last moment, the Knicks say "we decided to match Lin's offer sheet", the hyper-emotional Knicks fans and the novelty Lin fans will be happy, but the true fans will be OK either way.

We will know in a few hours what the deal really is. Hold onto your hats, ladies and gents.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

It's crossed my mind as well. Not so much as for fan hype as just to screw with Houston. Who's Dolan's real enemy: Lin or Morey?

That would mean that the Knicks ownership is actually capable of such deep thought. More likely they are just stupid. I hope I'm
wrong and they don't just let an asset walk away for NOTHING.

I could be wrong, but I think that's giving this management group too much credit.

Exactly....

One thing that did occur to me though, is that what their doing is kinda cruel to the fans (assuming a decision has been made to let Lin go). Why make us wait, wonder, argue & generally tear each other to shreds over this if the decision has already been made? To **** Houston over? I think they are ****ing us over more with this BS.

I have thought all along that the Knicks are so pissed at the Rockets for changing the terms of the deal that they are making it look like they wont sign Lin to get their hopes up. But late tonight they will annouce that they have resigned him.

I am starting to do doubt this though.

What did I say that made you think that? Just because it's cruel and they are ****ing us over doesn't mean it's intentionally so. (Although I did suspect some sadism at play during the Isiah Thomas years...)

So here's really what I don't get:

The Knicks just made a deal with Morey. Gave 'em all sorts of assets for Camby. Hard to believe that they wouldn't have talked about Lin, right?

The official word just came down from the Knicks- They are not going to match.

OK, speculation time is over. Time for the Knicks team and Knicks fans to move on.

Anyone claiming to no longer be a "Knicks" fan over this, just bounce, because you never were a true fan.

The rest of us will continue to root for our team. We're STILL good to go.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!
