Much has been made already about the New York Knicks decision — reportedly at this point — not to sign Jeremy Lin. But another way to look at the move is that the Knicks’ owner, Madison Square Garden Inc. MSG -0.09% , has already lost more money in market capitalization than the cost of Lin’s contract.

The 64-cent drop in MSG stock equates to a market capitalization loss of about $49 million.

That is so damn silly - you should be ashamed!! Have you been following the market? I have 3 companies in my portfolio that lost 1.6 pct for no reason other than market trends and those companies have nothing to do with JLin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never claimed to know much about investing (and you may not either if you're doing that much worse than the market!). I just posted another guy's article.

You are right - you really don't know much about investing.

You should before you post other articles that make no sense.

Well your 3 companies went down almost four times as much as the Dow did in percentage points. That sounds much worse.

I've owned the stock right after Linsanity. People definitely sold off because there's a chance the Knicks aren't resigning Lin. I'm looking to sell too but waiting for the dust to settle a bit. The most popular player on the team leaving is huge news and does have an impact on the company's stock price, you'd have to be a complete moron not to realize that.

Who says they are DOW stocks, Genius? Stick to Psych

those 3 stocks are up 40 pct for the year but who is counting - maybe they bought futures in MSG during Linsanity and sold off before the trade talk

Maybe, maybe not. I would need a lot more to base that on than a dumb article.

Why did dolan force the melo trade. To sell season tickets and raise prices and renovate the garden. Players bring in money

I hope MSG Stock includes Slim Fast. Stock could receive a little bump when Felton moves to town.

the article mentions a 60 cent drop in stock price. it closed at 59 cents down.

let's see what happens when they officially don't match. i'm guessing something in the ballpark of 5% over the week.
