I apologize if there is an argument similar in another thread, but i didn't know where to start. Felton averaged 17 and 9 in 54 games with the Knicks. Lin averaged 15 and 6 in about half that amount of games. Lin clearly has much greater potential, which is one reason his value is much higher regardless of numbers. Their games are similar in many ways as well. I feel like this decision is a basketball decision for the Knicks as much as it is money. Felton is clearly a good player who had a down-year in Portland. He is definitely capable of returning to New York and averaging 15/8 while being a good defender. Only concern with him is low shooter percentages. My question is, with Felton as a starter in place of Lin, how many more wins or loses is it worth?

Felton will never sniff 17 & 9 without Dantoni. More like 11pts on 40% shooting and 29% from 3 and doesn't make players better like aldridge, gallo etc. but he can run the pick n roll with amare.

Lin was our 3rd maybe 2nd option on offense depending on which amare we get.

Now we have to rely heavily on jr smith for scoring but whatever. I wont be subjecting myself to mediocrity

I liked Felton when he was here but dude really fell off after he left. I'm not so sure he can return to that unless he hits the gym hardcore and is really committed. Didn't he start to burn out like Duhon during the season due to D'antoni giving him too much burn?

I don't think Felton is our answer but if you believe the papers then the whole Lin thing is pretty explosive and i'm not sure how you bring him back and make nice - although it is possible.

I do think Lin is the kind of guy you roll the dice on, but it is pretty clear something is going on with his ego and that might be reason enough to let him walk.

Lin's numbers were down under Woodson.... 14.8 PPG and 6 assists. Felton for his career has averaged 13 PPG and 6 assists. His shooting is for the most part terrible... a little over 40% from the field and 33% from down town but he's a solid PG. It's hard to say how much better Lin will be considering he hasn't played all that much but I will say that I'm comfortable with Ray running point again for the boys in blue and orange.

On this particular team doesnt matter much.I think both would have the same +/-. Lin will put up much better numbers in Houston

Felton won't put up 17 and 9 like he did running MDA's offense but he won't need to. MDA did give Felton too much burn but then again he gave everyone too much burn.

The thing is Felton played in Larry Brown's system in Charlotte when they actually made the playoffs, so he's familiar with Woody's ball control system. He might actually be a better fit than Lin's attacking 8 Turnover a game style.

Big differance here is Lin cant defend anyone. Have u seen Lin get through a screen. I still see Deron Williams laughing at him. Why people defend a guy that doesnt want to be a Knick I cant understand

Felton put up good numbers for Brown which is tough to do. I would think he can average his career averages this season. 13/7 at a minimum.

I still remember the Nets game after the Euphoric Dallas game. Boy did Deron have Lin for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner hanging 38 pts on him. Calderon and even Greivis Vasquez toasted Lin. Rondo hung a triple double on him. Alot of Lin Lovers remember his last second 3 pointer to beat Toronto, but forget they had to switch Shumpert onto Calderon just to keep Toronto from running away with the win in the 4th quarter.

Based on last year's data, MUCH better. He ranks much higher than Felton in every category except turnovers

Rondo hung a triple double on Felton as well: http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=301029002
Here's what Deron Williams did: http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=310112026

Who exactly was Felton stopping while he was here?

It all depends on which Felton shows up.

I don't recall Greivis Vasquez and Jose Calderon taking Felton to school.

There isn't much difference. Lin's defense sucks. Good NBA guards torch him. The price is right on Felton. Time to move on.

Chances are without Dantoni the 11pt 40% 20 something % felton will show up while Lin is averaging close to 20 & 10 in Houston and fans and media are crying about how can the knicks let this guy walk for NOTHING

There are reports that Lin wants out because MDA isn't here anymore and Woodson thinks he a backup.
