Yep, that, in a nutshell, is the difference between a True Fan and a fair weather bandwagon rider.
There were tons of them riding the Bulls' sack like that in the '90's. When they started losing after MJ left, they claimed to be "Jordan fans". I think most Knicks fans know chumps like that. Most of those same types ended up "Laker fans" when they started winning, too.
This isn't about winning and losing, it's about an owner who cares more about his ego than winning a championship. This is about deciding whether or not to support an owner who's been kicking in the teeth of Knicks fans for over a decade.
Well, as far as I'm concerned, A true fan is one who backs his team despite who the owner is. Is one is just a casual follower of a team, they can switch up and bandwagon ride all they want. Personally, I can't stand bandwagon riders.
If this dude Bill Simmons wants to root for the Nyets over the Knicks, then that's on him. Most of that alleged "new Nets fanbase" are Knicks haters anyway, so I say good riddance to them. The Knicks are betetr off without fickle, half-assed fans, anyway.
I know a few dudes who were pseudo-Knicks fans back in the day, and were similarly pissed at Dolan, who is one of the worst owners in sports. They aren't considering themselves Knicks fans now, and I didn't consider them Knicks fans before.
Anyone who wants off the Knicks train can hop out now. Real fans don't need fickle fans polluting our circumference. Take a hike to Barclays Center, and don't let the door hit you on the way out! Believe me, you won't be missed!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year.
GO KNICKS!
